FALLOUt 4 DLC is set to land in 2016 and Bethesda have already committed to using fan feedback to shape what will eventually be launched.
The question some fans will be asking themselves, will be whether it's worth the wait.
Previous Fallout titles have had a mixed bag when it's come to expansion packs, Fallout 3's Broken Steel was a brilliant way to extend the game and introduce some neat ideas, while Point Lookout provided a slightly different setting with tougher enemies to face.
The Pitt, however just didn't cut it in the same way and Mothership Zeta didn't provide the same level of replayability or length.
When I first played Fallout 4, I was pleased to see that it still beared a lot of hallmarks of the earlier title, while providing some exciting new ways to play the game, such as settlement building.
As my adventures in the Wastelands continued, however, I found myself facing more and more options where it felt like violence was the only option.
I know some people have found ways around murdering your foes but as Someone who enjoyed some of the zanier in-game options from Fallout 3, I found myself taking a more linear-feeling path then I would like.
That's not to say that I haven't spent a huge amount of time wrapped up in cautiously exploring my surroundings, finding new companions and leveling up my character.
I think Bethesda face two challenges when it comes to providing DLC, giving dedicated players something different and finding enough players who have actually exhausted the vanilla title.
It's important that the DLC doesn't just tag on some meaningless missions and adds a few weapons, I think it needs to provide more than just a level cap rise but possibly new features and interesting locations.
A DLC that provides a look back at the Karma system of old, something perhaps judges the outcome by how you handle the new storyline, would be a great way to enjoy Fallout 4 again.
Another nice touch would be putting together a more challenging survival mode like seen in New Vegas, however I can understand why that may have been left on the cutting room floor.
For me, Fallout has always been about exploring an interesting world however you wanted to and I can honestly say that there is still plenty for me to do after putting a large amount of time into Fallout 4.
Having spoken to Bethesda's Pete Hines earlier in 2015 on the subject of DLC, he commented that gamers could be confident that something special would be put together based on how his team had developed expansions for Skyrim and Fallout 3.
Having had to deal with an incredible level of hype surrounding the original title, it wouldn't surprise me if Fallout 4's first DLC release is judged to the same level of scrutiny.
