A number of Tesla Motors vehicles can now park themselves, thanks to a new software update.</div>

The updated software <a href="https://www.teslamotors.com/blog/summon-your-tesla-your-phone" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">– Tesla version 7.0 –</a> also brings new speed limits on the US firm's semi-autonomous Autopilot mode.</div>

It also brings several enhancements, including automatically slowing when the car is approaching a curve and keeping the car in its lane even when the lane markings are faded.</div>

CEO Elon Musk said the parking feature is a "baby step" toward his eventual goal – allowing drivers to summon their self-driving, self-charging cars from anywhere using only their smartphones.</div>

"I actually think, and I might be slightly optimistic on this, within two years you'll be able to summon your car from across the country," Mr Musk said on a conference call with reporters. "This is the first little step in that direction."</div>

They must then stand within 10 feet and direct the car to park itself using the key fob or Tesla's smartphone app. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The car can also exit the spot when the driver summons it. If it's going into a home garage, it can also open and close the garage door.</div>

Tesla says the system is helpful for tight parking spots, but cautions that it should only be used on private property since it can't detect every potential obstacle. The car could hit bikes hanging from a garage ceiling, for example.</div>

The software update also puts new speed limits on Tesla's semi-autonomous mode. </div>

The car will now only drive at or slightly above the speed limit when the Autopilot mode is being used on residential roads and on roads without a center divider. If the car enters such an area in Autopilot mode, it will automatically slow down.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Musk said he's not aware of any accidents caused when a Tesla was driving in Autopilot mode, but he thinks the change won't be a problem for owners.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"On roads without a centre divider, where there's potential for a more serious collision, it makes sense not to go more than five miles per hour above the speed limit," he said.</div>

The updates will go into about 60,000 vehicles, including Model S sedans made after September 2014 and the new Model X SUV.</div>

<em>NewsNewsBlog.blogspot.com</em> travelled to Berlin, Germany last month to test the latest in in-car entertainment systems – including a prototype new surround sound variation – fitted into the luxury Ford Mondeo Vignale.</div>

Noise-cancellation is nothing new, and has been making long-haul flights with screaming infants and droning aeroplane engines bearable for many years – but what if that same technology was applied to the cabin of a four-door car?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That’s exactly what the engineers at Ford and Sony asked themselves. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The result is the new Ford Mondeo Vignale with Active Noise Control, which uses three small microphones embedded around the driver and passenger seats of the car to cancel out background noise while driving.</div>

Like noise-cancelling headphones, the system works best for low frequencies, like droning engines noises and the sound of the road, so you don’t have to worry about not being able to hear someone shouting for you outside the car – or being oblivious to the sound of emergency sirens rushing towards you.</div>

Aside from the active noise cancellation taking place inside the cabin around you, Ford has also developed acoustic glass, which absorbs distracting sounds from outside the windscreen and front windows.</div>

Thanks to its special laminated acoustic layer – thinner than a human hair – the aptly-named acoustic glass reduces the noise of the wind, as air flows around the car.</div>

As a result, you aren’t forced to crank up the volume on your in-car entertainment system to be able to hear all of the details in your favourite driving playlist.</div>

And Ford is also pretty confident its quieter driving experience will not only have a positive effect on your volume level, but your stress level too. </div>

It’s called the Ford Electronic Sound Enhancement system, and is designed to help re-create and enhance some of the louder, sporty feel of a roaring engine that might be lost through the layers of foam engine bat insulation and sound-proof underbody shields.</div>

But all of the meticulous engineering and sound absorption technology in the Mondeo Vignale, wouldn’t be worth a penny if the sound system didn’t deliver. Lucky Sony has pulled it out of the bag.</div>

To achieve this staggering result, the Sony Engineers travelled around the world to take a number of acoustic measurements inside real music venues, including halls in Amsterdam, Berlin and Vienna, which allows the software to digitally simulate the acoustics of a live performance.</div>

ELECTRIC vehicle maker Tesla Motors has unveiled a luxurious new SUV with stylish rear falcon-wing doors, which open upward and doors which sense your proximity.</div>

The Silicon Valley automaker has been teasing the Model Model X for years, but last night CEO Elon Musk finally revealed the new all-electric vehicle at an event near the firm's California-based factory.</div>

The Model X sets a new bar for automotive engineering and has a number of unique features, like the two rear falcon-wing doors, which hinge and open upward.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Tesla has put a lot of thought into these oh-so-cool rear doors which – unlike the classic DeLorean – scan the area around the vehicle to calculate how much free space is available, then adjusts the span of the doors to open accordingly. </div>

The engineers behind the clever design say the doors can open in as little as 12 inches. They proved as much by parking the car in a tight-spot on-stage at the event.</div>

The doors – and the Tesla-designed second-row seats, which all move independently – were among the reasons the Model X's launch was delayed several times. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mr Musk announced plans for the Model X in 2012, it was initially expected to go on sale in early 2014.</div>

CEO Musk says the company "got a little carried away" and might have designed the Model X differently if it had known the final engineering costs and manufacturing complexity.</div>

"I'm not sure anyone should make this car," he said. "There's far more there than is really necessary to sell the car."</div>

The Model X is alone, for now, in the all-electric luxury SUV market. Its closest competitor is the plug-in hybrid Porsche Cayenne SUV, which starts at $77,200. </div>

But others, spurred by Tesla, are planning their own all-electric models. Audi said this month that it will have an all-electric SUV by 2018.</div>

At the lower end of the market, there's the $32,000 Kia Soul EV, an electric crossover, but it only has a 93-mile range. Toyota briefly sold an electric version of the RAV4 SUV, but that was discontinued last year.</div>
