Nintendo news this week includes information on the Nintendo NX's release date |
THE Nintendo NX has been given an update regarding its 2016 release date and just what kind of power fans can expect from the new console set to rival the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The console, which is reportedly set to include a portable device, looks likely to launch in 2016.
That's according to leading analysts and industry sources, who believe the recent claims that Nintendo have started releasing software development kits for the NX, coupled with the age of the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, will make 2016 a safe bet for launch.
“We are increasingly of the idea that Nintendo might launch the NX in 2016 because of the softness of 3DS and Wii U,” Macquarie Capital Securities analyst David Gibson told the Wall Street Journal.
The games giant have already stated they will not be making further comments on the recent reports, which also included new information on the power of the NX platform.
The new Nintendo device spotted by fans |
The device itself will boast industry leading chips to help boost the power above rivals PS4 and Xbox One, although this is to be expected from something being launched two years after Microsoft and Sony new-gen consoles.
Further information on the power of the Nintendo NX has also been reported on, with a source revealing that a demo recently shown could only be run on an industry-leading computer, however, the chip specs themselves won't have been finalised yet.
The Nintendo NX will reportedly not include an optical drive |
The Nintendo NX was rumoured to be less of a singular console but actually a platform, which would include both a handheld and home console device.
A new patent spotted by fans appeared to show a new handheld device which could be connected to the NX project.
There is also the chance that the new console will also exclude an optical drive, while also providing the option of syncing with the portable device.
Developers have been revealing more on their plans to support games on the new console from Nintendo.
