NINTENDO is set for a busy 2016 with their first mobile titles launching with DeNA and Pokemon Go arriving on Android and iPhone, The Nintendo NX consoles may not be among them, however.
A new prediction for the Nintendo NX update has been made by industry analyst Michael Pacther, who believes the way Nintendo have conducted business in the past with their Wii consoles reveals a different release date.
Pachter has already gone on record to say that the Japanese games giant will need the return of third party support to take on the PS4 and Xbox One, and has also backed the NX to make a firm impact if the top gaming titles return.
He puts his prediction down to the fact that nothing has come to him in connection with dev kits being released for the new console, making a launch in 2016 unlikely.
Pacther also reasons that Nintendo have in the past announced consoles around E3 and then release the new console around 18 months later.
“If any western developer has a dev kit, who knows me, I think they would have told me by now”, says Pacther, adding that his contacts at developers in the West are pretty good," he said on the Pachter Factor.
“They wouldn’t tell me when the launch date was or what they’re working on, they’d just say ‘we have a dev kit’.
"I think the lack of dev kits that have been, as as I'm aware, suggests very little to know software support from third parties and if you don't have software how are you going to launch a console?
"Nintendo' history has been to announce a console around E3 and launch a year-and-a-half later. We didn't get an announcement at this year's E3."
It appears that Nintendo will move away from the Wii U with the upcoming Nintendo NX gaming platform if the new patent filings found by fans are anything to go by.
They show a gamepad featuring a touchscreen panel which is sure to make Nintendo’s latest offering stand apart from the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Additional buttons could also see the controller tilted and used in a number of positions, with a card-slot and built-in speaker indicating on-the-go gaming.
