Star Wars Battlefront's ranks are growing |
THE News News Blog brings you the top PS4 news, including the Star Wars Battlefront 3 war ranks, Konami's Phantom Pain DLC and Destiny's tech issues.
The Star Wars Battlefront war ranks continue to swell, with EA and DICE revealing the next line of heroes to join in the fray.
The heroes themselves serve as power picks up lain in areas around the map, you can collect one just like how you can pilot a Tie Fighter or an AT-AT.
Some have been found to be more effective than other, Darth Vader has proven a vicious enemy to face, while Luke Skywalker looks to be a little easier to squish.
Lead Hero Designer on Star Wars Battlefront, Jamie Keen, has revealed that Princess Leia, Han Solo and The Emperor are set to be playable in the game.
Battlefront fans can expect a new roster of heroes to control |
"Our goal for all the Hero characters has been to capture their essence and spirit from the original Star Wars film trilogy, and then convey that through gameplay," Keen revealed.
"It’s clear that Leia is a leader, so in Star Wars Battlefront she’s very much about support play, buffing team members, and holding positions. Furthermore, players spawning close to her will spawn as Alderaan Honor Guards.
"Han Solo is a gunslinger mainly designed for lone wolves and, echoing the beginning of the original Star Wars trilogy, he’s not very dependent on others.
"Similar to a Rebel trooper, but with a greatly boosted arsenal, Han Solo might be the easiest Hero character to get into. Offensive output, damage, and mobility — that’s what this guy’s about.
"Palatine’s main attack is the iconic Force Lightning, which does a lot of damage to troops within reach. The lightning also comes in the more powerful Chain Lightning form, which is an area of effect ability dealing damage to enemies around you in all directions."
Konami has supplied Metal Gear Solid 5 fans with a new round of Phantom Pain DLC.
October 20 saw several new costumes added to the Phantom Pain, including Naked Snake fatigues (that's a code name by the way), Naked Snake sneaking suit, Tuxedo, The Boss sneaking suit, Eva Jumpsuit and two parade tack costumes for D-Horse.
Each one costs around 79p each via the PlayStation Store, while certain story events must be triggered for some of them to become useable.
The female outfits can be worn by female soldiers the player can play as, but not by the buddy Quiet, Konami has confirmed.
It should also be noted that none of them are for use in Metal Gear Online but fans can buy a new Squid Hat online, something I'm sure many fans have dreamed of having.
New Phantom Pain DLC has been released |
Bungie created a powerful new engine to develop Destiny, which according to new reports, has led to the big changes in the studio's content strategy.
Sources claim that because of its design, it made creating new maps and missions at Bungie a grueling ordeal, leaving the team in a constant grind to build DLC packs, right up to The Taken King.
Bringing forward microtransactions and drip feeding free content over the next months ahead of the release of Destiny 2 is a way around this problem.
A source told Kotaku: "There was a bet that was, ‘Hey if we did microtransactions, I bet you we could generate enough revenue to make up for the loss of DLCs.
Destiny's tech has shaped Bungie's future strategy, according to sources |
“Instead of it going Destiny, DLC1, DLC2, Comet, DLC1, DLC2, they’re actually just gonna go [big] release and then incremental release.
"A lot of the problems that came up in Destiny 1, and that happened in development of The Taken King, are results of having an unwavering schedule and unwieldy tools,” s
“Bungie is ravenously appreciative of the people that play their games, and they listen, they listen so clearly. But because the tools are shit, and because no one can reach consensus on how to fix the game in the time that’s allotted, you get a lot of sort of paralysis.”
