MICROSOFT has given manufacturers a deadline to ship their final Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 PCs.
Microsoft really wants you to use Windows 10.
Microsoft has also told PC manufacturers they will not be allowed to sell laptops, hybrids or desktop computers with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 preinstalled after October 31st 2016.
Original equipment manufacturer, or OEMs, like Dell, HP and Lenovo will only be able to sell PCs with Windows 10 preinstalled from October next year.
This is a much faster deadline than Microsoft usually sets.
The US firm usually allows PC OEMs to sell its previous operating system for some two years after the launch of a new version, ZDNet reports.
