A SIMPLE workaround has appeared in iOS 9.2 which lets iPhone and iPad users hide Apple's default apps, including Stocks and Weather.
It's a question as old as the Apple iPhone itself – how do I ditch the pre-loaded Apple apps I don't use from my iOS homescreen?
Well, thanks to this simple workaround unearthed in iOS 9.2, that's now possible.
The trick – posted by YouTube user VideosDeBarraquito – shows how to make the stock apps disappear (at least, until you reboot your iPhone).
NewsNewsBlog.blogspot.com has tested the simple workaround on an iPhone 6S running iOS 9.2 and can confirm it works.
Here's how it works –
1. Create a new folder on your iOS homescreen (you can do this by holding down on an app icon until it starts to jiggle, then dragging it on-top of another app)
2. Move the iOS apps you want to hide into the new folder
3. Once your chosen apps have been moved into the folder, tap and hold on the app icons again
4. When the icons begin to jiggle, pick one of the apps and drag it to the right of the folder
5. This should load a new blank page in the folder. Drop the app in this page
6. Press and hold on the app again and then drag it to the right to load another new page in the same folder
7. Do NOT let go of the app – instead drag and hold it to the centre of the blank folder page and then hit the Home Button without taking your finger off the screen
8. The app you were holding should then fly off to the left-hand corner of the screen and disappear
The trick does not uninstall the app. You can still search for the disappearing iOS app within Spotlight and even load it.
However the iOS icon will not be visible on your homescreen until you reboot your iPhone.
According to one YouTube viewer, Apple has already fixed the handy glitch in the pre-release beta version of its next iOS update, dubbed iOS 9.2.1.
The new iPhone workaround comes hours after a 10-second fix appeared online which promised to fix any issues with your App Store app and speed up your smartphone performance.
This fix – spotted by AppAdvice – clears out the cache in a number of default apps to help speed up your iPhone and sort any issues with apps not automatically updating.
