Cristiano Ronaldo crying after talking to his son
Filmed over 14 months, the new documentary from the makers of Amy and Senna gives us an unprecedented look at the real man behind the myth.
"Tell me who's the best player in the world? Me," he says in the trailer, before bursting into laughter.
Humour or not, however, this is clearly a man who knows his own value.
"Winning - that's the most important to me. It's as simple as that," he declares.

There is plenty of bombast and strutting on display in the film, but we also see the sacrifices and heartbreak that were endured by the player and his family to allow him to pursue his dream.
His mother weeps as she recalls sending him away to Lisbon when he was just 12 years old.
"I felt like I abandoned him," cries Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro in one emotional scene.

Ronaldo himself acknowledges that he missed out on so much of a normal childhood.
" I didn't really get to know my father" he admits.
"I have what I have because I sacrificed a lot."
The footballer became a father on June 17, 2010 naming his son Cristiano, too. Despite intense speculation, he has never publicly revealed the identity of his son's mother and has full custody.

The clips show the footballer playing with the little boy, nicknamed Cristianinho (Little Cristiano).
Clearly the global star is determined that he will not allow the past to repeat itself.
Even so, his career frequently takes him away from home and we see Ronaldo break down after the young boy asks, "When are you coming back?" during an emotional phone call.
It is a startlingly raw and real moment from a man who lives his life in the spotlight.

We build up our idols, we think we know who they are, but the reality is never so simple. There is a real person behind the perma-tanned body and mega-watt smile.
As with Senna and Amy, ultimately the film makers leave the talking to their subject.
"Some people hate me, some people love me," Ronaldo says.
I was made to be the best. That's how I live my life."
Ronaldo is out in cinemas on November 9.
