Assassin's Creed: Empire is going to end the current Ubisoft cycle

Sources claim that the Assassin’s Creed series is set for a reboot which will take the franchise in a different direction.
The cycle of yearly Creed releases is set to be broken this year, with Empire skipping 2016 for launch in 2017.
It will be the first time since 2009 that Ubisoft will miss a core entry in Assassin's Creed, although spinoff title Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India is still set for launch on January 12, 2016 and will be followed by ACC: Russia in February.

The negative impact created by the release of Unity in 2014 is said to be behind the idea and will give developers more time to polish the final product.
Empire will reportedly be set in Egypt and could feature the same character over a trilogy of titles, the others covering Rome and Greece.
Filling the hole left by a major Creed title could be Watch Dogs 2, which is rumoured to be set in San Francisco.

Other sources have cited that the game would take on a more Wither feel and include a character who will be an escaped slave, equipped with a pet Eagle.
When reached for comment, Ubisoft told Gamespot: "We can't comment on rumor or speculation.
"We're always happy when players are excited about our games, past, present, and future. In the meantime, we hope that the latest images from the Assassin's Creed movie set will keep fans of the franchise happy and eager to find out more!"
