APPLE has unveiled its latest iPhone – and here are FIVE reasons you probably already really want one.

Apple unveiled its latest iPhone – the eleventh entry in the best-selling series of smartphones – to whooping and clapping in San Francisco this evening.
The new handset, which sports the same design as last year's iPhone 6, comes with a slew of new features and functionality.
The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will both ship with Apple's latest version of its hugely popular mobile operating system, iOS 9.

Pre-orders will be available in the UK at the end of this week – and here are five reasons you might be tempted to place an order.
#1 – 3D Touch
Yes, the much-rumoured new pressure sensitive displays are the headline feature of the new iPhone.
Apple first unveiled its 3D Touch technology one year ago, during the launch of the Apple Watch.
Apple's 3D Touch uses pressure-sensitive technology to add layers of perceived depth to the multitouch display.
Most smartphone users are well accustomed to "multi-touch" – the ability for phones to recognise touches from multiple fingers, enabling such capabilities as pinching to zoom on a single plane.
Apple's 3D Touch means the iPhone can detect the strength being applied to its display.

The Cupertino company showcased a few examples of how 3D Touch improves the iPhone operating system.
Pressing down harder on an App icon on the Home Screen gives you quick access to frequent shortcuts.
Use 3D Touch on the Camera app and you might see a small menu pop-up with a shortcut to taking a selfie, or the Maps app might give you quick access to your directions home.
From a text message or email, 3D Touch will give you a preview of a Web link without launching the browser.
Although the technology is already available on the latest versions of Apple's popular MacBook Pro and MacBook lines, it is most likely on the iPhone that the technology will have its biggest impact.

Apple Watch was the first device in Apple's roster to use the pressure sensitive display technology
The iPhone already has a thriving App Store, filled with developers who will create innovative and interesting new uses for the technology.
Games are likely to be one of the biggest categories to take advantage of 3D Touch, potentially adding new sensations including temperature, texture and sound to our plain glass screens.

#2 – Better Photos, Slow-Motion Selfies and Front Camera Panoramas too

If your iPhone is your main camera, the iPhone 6S is definitely a worthy upgrade.
Apple has given its new smartphone's shooter a hefty increase in specs – from the eight megapixels of its predecessor to 12MP.
This is the highest resolution camera to ship on an Apple iPhone to date and the firm was keen to show-off what its capabilities.

Like it or not, selfies are here to stay and Apple has responded with a ute upgrade to its video chat camera.
The iPhone 6S sports an upgraded sensor for better quality Skype and FaceTime video calls.
Front-facing panorama shots and slow-motion video at 720p also made a debut in the iPhone 6S, as well as front-facing flash – which is lit by the Retina display, a la SnapChat.

#3 – Insanely High Quality Video

The iPhone 6S is a must-buy for any iPhone users who use their phone to take previous family videos, or breath-taking sports clips.

Apple has made a number of tweaks and changes to the cameras on the iPhone 6S
The Cupertino firm has added 4K video capabilities to its latest handset, which means your footage will be futureproof as 4K televisions slowly continue to replace standard High Definition over the next few years.
Apple has never offered 4K video capabilities in the past, so the iPhone 6S is sure to be a must-buy – especially when coupled with the slow motion functionality first introduced with the iPhone 5S.

#4 – Its Faster than any other iPhone

With a new iPhone, comes a new processor – and the iPhone 6S is no different.
The latest Apple handset runs on the company's own A9 chip, which boasts a bump in speed over last years' A8 while maintaining the firm's strict focus on battery life.

#5 – Motion Backgrounds and Rose Gold

If you aren't sold on the performance bump, the new selfie functionality, better quality camera and stunningly sharp video – maybe you will want the new iPhone because it looks new?
True to form, Apple has released a new colour alongside its 'S' iteration of the iPhone, in which the industrial design of the handset does not change.
After unveiled Gold for the iPhone 5S, Apple has released Rose Gold for the iPhone 6S, based on the colour it used for the Apple Watch earlier this year.

The iPhone 6S also boasts a number of cosmetic tweaks, including a new colour and motion backgrounds
The new iPhones also have the ability to be summoned at any time with the words 'Hey Siri' – something previous handsets could only do while they were plugged into the wall.
Apple has also added motion backgrounds to the handsets, which animate whenever the screen wakes up.
This cosmetic feature was first introduced in a number of the watch faces included with the Apple Watch.
