AMAZON has accidentally revealed the price of PlayStation's hugely-anticipated virtual reality headset, which is due to hit shelves later this year.
PlayStation VR is due to hit UK shelves later this year – but Sony have continued to stay tight-lipped about a launch date or price.
But an Amazon post might have just revealed all the details on these new gaming goggles.
Details briefly appeared on the Canadian version of the US retail website – listing the price at hefty $1,125.35 (some £550 converted).
Amazon has since stripped the price from the item listening, which now reads: Currently Unavailable.
Sony is keeping schtum about the final price, so it's unclear whether the £550 price tag is a leak, or a blunder by someone at Amazon.
Priced at over £500, this means the PlayStation VR headset, which allows gamers to experience immersive 360 degree versions of their favourite PS4 games, is considerably more than rival Oculus Rift.
Oculus finally unveiled its official retail price earlier this week – and it'll set you back £499 in the UK, or $599 in the United States.
This is a far-cry from the $350 'ballpark' Oculus founder Palmer Luckey last year claimed the gadget would cost.
Sony have been quick to dismiss the pricing on Amazon with a statement saying: “This was an error by Amazon, we haven’t announced price for PlayStation VR.”
With the virtual gaming race now in full swing we’re sure it won’t be too long until Sony reveals all about the PlayStation VR.
According to Sony, "PlayStation VR allows you to experience the future of gaming through virtual reality with just the visor, your PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Camera."
The headset combines a landscape-scanning, full-HD LCD 1080p display and a uniquely developed optical unit with an approximate 100 degree field of view to create a vast 3D space in front of your eyes.
