Facebook users can pick between the blue lightsabers used by the Jedi, or the Sith's red lightsabres |
STAR WARS: The Force Awakens hits cinemas this week and to celebrate Facebook has allowed its users to customise their profile pictures with lightsabers.
Facebook is celebrating the release of the seventh Star Wars film by allowing users to add a bit of the Force to their Facebook profile pictures.
The news comes after Google let Star Wars fans customise its Maps, Gmail, Chrome web browser, and Android mobile operating system with images from either the light or dark side of the Force. Oh, and they added this nifty search Easter Egg, too.
The Facebook tool went live on the hugely popular social network this week.
"Awaken the Force within by adding Finn's lightsaber to your profile picture," the post reads.
Facebook is catering to both Jedi and Sith, allowing social network users to pick between a blue or red lightsaber.
And better still – the red lightsaber is the infamous three-pronged weapon used by Kylo Ren in the trailers last year.
How to add a lightsaber to your profile picture –
• Follow this link, close the photo viewer and tap the Try It button at the bottom of the movie poster.
• On the right hand side of the screen you'll see two options which will change the lightsaber from red to blue.
• It’s also worth setting the amount of time you want your profile pic to keep the Star Wars theme.
This isn’t the first time Facebook has added the option to change users profile pics.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits UK cinemas on December 17th 2015.
