The livestream will be viewable here: http://www.twitch.tv/bungie, with a widget open at the top of this article which will go live at 18:00, UK time.
Destiny will see the launch of its latest expansion on September 15, adding new weapons, armour and a new raid to the game.
Taken King creative director Smith spoke recently about Bungie's ambitions to improve on how Destiny's main questing works, citing it as a natural evolution in the general questing system from Year One.
Questification is what the studio is calling the overhaul, and its aim is to make it more clear cut what prizes are on offer when you complete something in the game.
Bungie said at the time when announcing the changes that "It was clear to us and the community that it was an area for improvement, especially if we wanted to rely on questing even more in Year Two.
"The Taken King was built with Quests in mind, but we didn't want to ignore the Year One content in this global change. So as a part of this update, we've taken all Destiny content and - for lack of a better term - "questified" it."
Changes have also been made to accommodate fans who enjoy PvP action, with players now able to complete the PVP Intro chain on Lord Shaxx to receive access to the Weekly PVP quests on Lord Shaxx and the PVP Quartermaster.
A Lord Shaxx Bounty called "The True Meaning of War" will be unlocked, which requires completing the PVP weeklies, and grants players Nightfall tier rewards.
