THESE hidden Netflix codes – coupled with a nifty web browser tool called Super Browse – could revolutionise how you find movies and TV shows on Netflix.
The secret trick should help you find new shows and movies much faster than ever before |
Despite its recent redesign, finding your next favourite box set or film on Netflix can be a little frustrating.
But a series of hidden codes have appeared online which make tracking down your next binge-watch a breeze.
These numerical codes – which need to be pasted into the URL bar in your browser – unlock a number of hyper-specific genre categories previously only available to developers.
These hidden categories are also used by the video on-demand service to work out recommendations, based on your viewing history.
Thankfully, if you are watching online you can navigate to these sub-genres by modifying the URL in your web browser.
The simply swap out the ### with a numbered code. For example, 5286 is the code for Sports Comedies, 10757 shows all the British Movies and 9833 shows only Reality TV.
The URL hack should help you whittle down the selection on Netflix UK |
And navigating to netflix.com/browse/genre/10118 will show you only the Comic Book and Superhero Movies available on Netflix in your region.
Thanks to the guys a Gizmodo, you can see a full list of the movie codes here.
If that sounds like a lot of trouble, Super Browse is a nifty little web browser add-on that does all the hard work for you.
Install this lightweight app in your Google Chrome or Firefox browser and the hidden categories will now appear in the Browse menu on the Netflix homepage.
Super Browse is available for free on both browsers, although the Firefox app is still in Beta.
The news comes after Netflix expanded into a further 130 new countries around the world.
"Today you are witnessing the birth of a new global Internet TV network," said Netflix CEO Reed Hastings.
"With this launch, consumers around the world – from Singapore to St. Petersburg, from San Francisco to Sao Paulo – will be able to enjoy TV shows and movies simultaneously – no more waiting.
"With the help of the Internet, we are putting power in consumers’ hands to watch whenever, wherever and on whatever device."
