ONEPLUS will permanently remove its invite system for the OnePlus 2 to celebrate the Chinese startup firm's second anniversary.
Disruptive Chinese startup OnePlus will celebrate its second anniversary on December 17 2015.
To mark the occasion, the firm is removing the invite system on its second-ever smartphone, the hugely popular OnePlus 2.
Invites were first introduced to help limit the number of orders placed for the OnePlus 2.
The sought-after codes were only available through competitions or friends who had previously purchases products from OnePlus.
The news comes after OnePlus announced its Black Friday discounts – which included a 90 per cent discount on some items.
OnePlus announced the changes on the official company blog: "It's hard to believe, but on December 17, OnePlus will celebrate its second anniversary.
"Some of you have been on this journey with us since day one. You've been there for the highs and lows, standing with us as we've grown and focused our business.
"Others may be newer to the OnePlus family, taking a chance on a new mobile startup after receiving an invite from a friend.
"The invite system has been crucial to letting us scale our operations and has given our fans a unique way to share OnePlus with the people in their lives.
"But we are always trying to enhance the OnePlus experience for you and taking risks to push ourselves and show real improvements.
"That's why we're making the OnePlus 2 invite-free … forever!"
OnePlus' latest smartphone – the smaller and cheaper OnePlus X – is still only available to customers with invites.
To date, OnePlus fans have sent more than 10 million invites to friends, colleagues, family members and strangers.
