APPLE has rolled out major updates to all of its operating systems, including iOS 9, OS X El Capitan, watchOS and tvOS.
Apple today rolled out updates for the operating systems that powers its hugely popular iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches and fourth generation Apple TVs.
The technology firm unexpectedly pushed out iOS 9.2, OS X El Capitan 10.11.2, watchOS 2.1 and tvOS 9.1 to all compatible Apple devices.
The latest operating system updates include security patches and stability improvements amongst some new features.
Here is everything you can expect from the latest Apple updates –
iOS 9.2
Available for the iPhone 4S or newer, iPod Touch fifth generation, iPad 2 or more recent, the latest update to iOS does not bring any flashy new features of functionality to the hugely successful mobile operating system.
Instead, Apple has focused on improving Apple Music – the streaming music service it launched earlier this summer.
- You can now create a new playlist when adding a song to a playlist
- Your most recently changed playlist is now listed at the top when adding songs to playlists
- Download albums or playlists from your iCloud Music Library by tapping the iCloud download button
- See which songs have been downloaded with the new download indicator next to each song in My Music and Playlists
- See works, composers, and performers while browsing Classical music in the Apple Music catalog
Mail Drop, which was previously only available to Mac owners, has now added to the iOS Mail app. This uses iCloud to send large attachments alongside emails – up to a staggering 5GB.
iBooks has saw a couple of tweaks and improvements, including support for Apple's new 3D Touch mechanism on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
Readers can now "peek and pop pages from the table of contents, your notes and bookmarks, or from search results inside a book."
Apple has also addressed an issue where updating iOS could prevent an alarm from going off, as well as improved stability of Safari and the Apple Podcasts app.
iPhone support for the USB Camera Adapter to import photos and videos has also been added in iOS 9.2.
OS X El Capitan 10.11.2
- Improved Wi-Fi reliability
- Better reliability for Handoff and AirDrop
- Fixed an issue that may cause Bluetooth devices to disconnect
- Fixed an issue that prevented Mail from deleting messages in an offline Exchange account
- Fixed an issue that prevented importing photos from an iPhone to a Mac using a USB cable
- Fixed an issue that may prevent Mail from completing the upgrade
watchOS 2.1
Apple Watch owners also enjoyed an update to their devices today.
The Cupertino company has added a slew of new language support, including Arabic, Czech, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Malay, Portuguese and Vietnamese.
Islamic and Hebrew calendars are also now supported within the Apple complication.
A number of bugs and glitches have also been fixed, such as an issue which prevented events from updating in the calendar complication, stopped the time displaying in power reserve mode and stopping all third-party apps from launching on the Watch.
tvOS 9.1
Finally, Apple also rolled out an update to its most recent hardware – the fourth generation Apple TV.
Amongst the new functionality introduced in tvOS 9.1, Apple has added the ability to control Apple Music with voice assistant, Siri.
Apple fans who have updated their Apple Watch to watchOS 2.1 can now control the Apple TV with the wearable Remote app.
