THOUSANDS are testing their resolve – and index finger strength – by taking part in a bizarre new online craze across Vine and Twitter. Welcome to the weird world of Extreme Phone Pinching.
If you have just splashed out on a brand-new iPhone 6S or Nexus 6P, you should probably give this new Vine craze a miss.
A new online craze – dubbed Extreme Phone Pinching – is taking social media by storm.
The concept is simple, pinch your smartphone with two fingers as close to the edge as possible and then dangle is precariously over ledges, hotel balconies, drains, or the edges of cliffs.
Extreme Phone Pinching was kickstarted by Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, of Ohio, USA who film themselves pinching their phones in increasingly insane places.
The viral trend is encouraging more and more technology fans to dangle their devices, like a smartphone-based recreation of Sylvester Stallone in Cliffhanger.
Drains, lift shafts, and bridges have all been tried and tested and yet luckily it seems nobody has (yet) suffered a drop.

But not everyone thinks the trend is a good idea.
Twitter is crammed with comments from smartphone owners saying they can't bear to watch the extreme phone stunts.
One social media user posted: "Phone pinching...The amount of anxiety this gives me."
"I've seen the extreme phone pinching video soooo many times and I still get nervous I Hate Tyler and Josh," another added.
If you want to save yourself the stress – do NOT try this at home.
