GAMERS hoping to get their hands on the Oculus Rift may be waiting a while – the virtual reality headset has already sold out.

Despite being priced at £499 ($599), it took just 14 minutes for the bold new gaming gadget to be snapped up via pre-orders.
The Oculus Rift will start shipping from March 28, but select retailers in limited locations will be allowed to stock them from April.

Buyers will receive a box which 'includes the headset with built-in headphones and mic, sensor, and an Xbox One controller.'
Also inside is a free copy of Lucky's Tale and the new Oculus Remote, 'designed to make it simple and intuitive to navigate VR experiences.'
Avid fans with money to burn can also pre-order an Oculus Ready PC along with the Rift for an eye-watering $1499.

A statement from the Oculus team concluded: "This is just the beginning. We can't wait to share more about the incredible games and experiences coming to Rift this year.
"Touch will ship in the second half of the year and will unlock entirely new interactions that let people take their VR experiences further than ever before."
