It's not been a great week for Apple.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2016/01/iphone-safari-glitch-how-to-stop-ios.html">Yesterday, a glitch in the firm's Safari web browser caused iPhones and Macs to crash</a> across the globe, and now Apple has confirmed it's recalling some of its chargers.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Apple is recalling AC wall plug adapters designed for use in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Continental Europe, New Zealand and South Korea.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The firm says that "in very rare cases, affected Apple two-prong wall plug adapters may break and create a risk of electrical shock if touched."</div>

According to the US tech firm these wall plug adapters were shipped with Mac and certain iOS devices between 2003 and 2015.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although UK plugs aren't affected the issue has also been found in the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Apple confirmed that it is aware of 12 incidents worldwide.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The recall does not affect any other Apple AC wall plug adapters designed for Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, United Kingdom, United States or any Apple USB power adapters.</div>

Because customer safety is the company’s top priority, Apple is asking customers to stop using affected plug adapters.</div>

An affected two-prong plug adapter has either four or five characters or no characters on the inside slot where it attaches to the main Apple power adapter.</div>

Intel’s upcoming sixth generation Skylake processors will be the last to support Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, Microsoft has confirmed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Going forward, Microsoft will only support its latest operating system on the latest silicon from Intel.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft's Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Terry Myerson confirmed the change in a blog post.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“As new silicon generations are introduced, they will require the latest Windows platform at that time for support,” he confirmed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“This enables us to focus on deep integration between Windows and the silicon, while maintaining maximum reliability and compatibility with previous generations of platform and silicon. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“For example, Windows 10 will be the only supported Windows platform on Intel’s upcoming Kaby Lake silicon, Qualcomm’s upcoming 8996 silicon, and AMD’s upcoming Bristol Ridge silicon.”</div>

In other words, if you want to continue to use Windows 7 for the foreseeable future – you should probably upgrade your hardware now, before Intel rolls out its new chips.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Windows 7 will continue to be supported for security, reliability and compatibility through January 14, 2020 – but only on previous generation silicon.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Windows 8.1 will receive the same support through January 10, 2023. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“This includes most of the devices available for purchase today by consumers or enterprises,” Microsoft lead Mr Myerson reassures.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It makes sense for Microsoft to focus on its latest operating system, which is quickly becoming an unprecedented success for the US technology firm.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mr Myerson reveals in his blog that “compared to Windows 7 PC’s, Skylake when combined with Windows 10, enables up to 30x better graphics and 3x the battery life.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That’s great news for consumers, especially those looking at getting the next generation of laptops.</div>

The Surface Book is now available to pre-order in the UK. But it'll cost you.</div>

The stylish aluminium laptop <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/12/surface-book-microsoft-admits-its.html">– the first to be designed and built by Microsoft itself –</a> was announced last October, <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/10/surface-pro-4-windows-10-threshold-band.html">alongside the Microsoft Band 2, Lumia 950 series and Surface Pro 4</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft opened up pre-orders to UK customers at 12:01am last night via the Microsoft Store, as well as Curry's PC World.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The first batch of Surface Book pre-orders will ship by February 18th, according to the Microsoft website.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Prices start from £1,299, which includes 128GB of internal storage, an Intel i5 processor and 8GB of RAM.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft charges an eye-watering £2,249 for the top-end model, which bundles 512GB of internal storage, a Core Intel i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and dedicated graphics.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Microsoft Surface Book has the highest resolution display of any laptop – a stunning 13.5-inch PixelSense display with some six millions pixels, or 267 pixels-per-inch.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For comparison, Google's Chromebook Pixel, a previous record holder, has 239 pixels-per-inch. The <a href="http://go.ad2up.com/afu.php?id=451019" rel="nofollow">Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display has 226ppi</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The stunning display on the Surface Book can also be detached thanks to the Muscle Wire Lock technology in the new hinge, dubbed "dynamic fulcrum hinge", <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/12/surface-pro-4-review-microsoft-has.html">transforming it into a Surface tablet</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The bundled Surface Pen, <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/12/surface-pro-4-review-microsoft-has.html">the same redesigned model that ships with the new Surface Pro 4 two-in-one hybrid</a>, can also be used to draw, navigate and annotate on the eye-wateringly sharp display.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The display can also be re-attached so that the display is facing away from the keyboard, if you need to use the laptop in a presentation mode, or use the keyboard base to hold the touchscreen display at an angle.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Navigating around the Windows 10 operating system is controlled through the multi-touch glass trackpad.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft's "ultimate laptop" also includes a chiclet keyboard, with backlit keys which the Redmond firm say are "perfect" for typing and are almost silent when in use.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Data transfer is handled by two USB 3.0 ports, but there is no sign of the new Type-C variation. An SD card slot is also built into the laptop, which sports 12 hours battery life.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"We're moving people from needing to choosing to loving Windows, and these devices promise to fuel even more enthusiasm and opportunity for the entire Windows ecosystem," Chief Executive Satya Nadella announced, during the unveiling of the Surface Book in New York City, last year.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Surface Book will also be available to pre-order in Austria, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand and Switzerland and Australia today.</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Microsoft has kept the same industrial design as last year, but simply refined the formula </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Out of the box, little appears to have changed with the Microsoft Surface Pro 4.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft has not radically altered the industrial design it debuted with the Surface Pro 3 but simply refined the stylish, angular 18-month-old design. That's not a criticism though, the Surface Pro 4 looks reserved, smart and professional.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Redmond technology firm has managed to thin the bezels around the display to squeeze a larger 12.3inch display into the same footprint as the Surface Pro 3, which means previous keyboards, accessories and docks can be shared between the two devices.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The improved, larger display is also sharper and brighter than last year, too. And it looks amazing.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On paper, the screen resolution of the Surface Pro 4 display clocks in at an impressive 2736 by 1824 – some 267 pixels per inch.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That pixel-packed screen lets the sharp, angular windows used in Windows 10 really shine. High resolution photographs and films look great on the revamped and pleasantly vibrant 3:2 screen, which works much better in a landscape orientation.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Compared to its predecessor, the fourth generation Surface Pro is also 76mm thinner and 14g lighter, although you will be hard pushed to notice unless you are comparing the two models side-by-side.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However you will notice the upgrade to Intel's sixth generation processors, dubbed SkyLake, which run much cooler than the chipmakers' previous generation processors and result in a faster, quieter device.</div>

Microsoft offers its new Surface Pro 4 with either an m3, i5 or i7 Intel processor, coupled with either 4GB, 8GB or 16GB of RAM.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Our review unit was powered by a 2.4GHz Intel i5 with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB hard drive, which was more than enough to handle photo editing high resolution images in Adobe Photoshop CC, skipping between dozens of tabs in Microsoft Edge and a healthy amount of doodling in OneDrive, too. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Relying on the Surface Pro 4 as our primary machine, the stylish, svelte fourth-generation Microsoft hybrid tablet consistently impressed with its stellar laptop-esque performance. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As a result, it's sometimes easy to forget the Surface can be detached from its keyboard, USB mouse and used as a standalone tablet.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The blockbuster laptop experience offered by the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is helped by the redesigned Type Cover keyboard, which throws out the flimsy and cramped keys used in last year's model in favour of a full-sized chiclet keyboard.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The redesigned keys are fast, pleasantly clicky and enjoyable to use.</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Microsoft has expanded the glass trackpad by 40 per cent, which helps navigation too</td></tr>

</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft has enlarged the trackpad on the Type Cover keyboard by 40 per cent, which is also now made from glass and as a result, is much smoother and more accurate than its predecessor.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thankfully, Microsoft has also ditched the small material loop on the Surface Pro 3 Type Cover which was used to attach and store the Surface Pen. Instead, the Redmond firm has fitted the left and right side of the device with some powerful magnets.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
These invisible magnets keep the Surface Pen locked in place throughout the day.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is difficult to accidentally knock the Surface Pen from the side of the device, even as it is wrestled in and out of a packed bag.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Unfortunately, while the Surface Pen is attached to the left-hand side of the Surface, it does block one of the cut-outs to flick open the kickstand at the back of the device. Granted, there is a mirror image on the right-hand side of the device, so the stylus won't stop you setting up the Surface Pro and starting to work, but it does seem like a little bit of an oversight by the design team.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But for all our lofty praise for the Surface Pro 4 Type Cover, it still doesn't manage to solve a four-year-old issue with the Surface range.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Microsoft two-in-one tablet hybrid cannot be used comfortably in your lap.</div>

</tbody></table>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The trademark kickstand remains solid as a rock when the Surface Pro 4 is placed on a desk and it can be adjusted and held at any angle.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But as soon as this cutting-edge device is placed on your knees, it becomes a cumbersome and an unstable nightmare.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft's new redesigned Surface Pen deserves a mention, too.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A similar story to the rest of the Surface Pro 4, the Microsoft stylus has been refined and tweaked - rather than overhauled.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The new Surface Pen ditches its complicated, two button set-up in favour of a single select button which runs the length of the pen.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft's updated stylus now supports 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity which results in an enjoyable and accurate drawing experience in the technology firm's own OneNote app and powerful third-party desktop applications, like Adobe Photoshop CC.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The eraser on the top of the Surface Pen is also a welcome addition. As are the updated motion sensors, which put the Pen to sleep whenever it detects that it has been placed on a table, or attached to the device. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
These improvements extend the battery life of the AAA-powered Pen to a full calendar year.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Unfortunately these advances in battery life do not extend to the Surface Pro 4. In fact, battery life is easily the single biggest failing of Microsoft's almost-perfect mobile work machine. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In a nutshell, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will not last an entire day of work.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Depending on which applications you have running and your screen brightness settings, it might not last you the morning.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With the brightness of the stellar 12.3inch display cranked up and with some heavy-duty desktop applications running, the Surface Pro 4 was only able to last a meagre four hours before screaming for its charger.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That's simply not good enough, especially for a device which advertises itself as being more than a match for any laptop computer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft claims nine hours battery life for video playback, but our review unit fell short there too – checking out after four-and-a-half hours, with screen brightness at its highest and bluetooth and wifi turned on.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you spend the majority of your 9 to 5 away from a power outlet, it's probably worth looking elsewhere. Apple's comparable MacBook Air lasts for a staggering 12 hours, for little weight gain over the Surface Pro 4.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But if you can swallow the inconvenience of carrying a power block around in your bag at all times and don't mind dropping the brightness of the eye-wateringly good display, the Surface Pro 4 is still a great purchase.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Windows 10 truly shines on this hybrid device.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">But a lack of compelling tablet apps and the 3:2 aspect ratio mean the device stumbles in portrait </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Windows 10's new universal apps scale and expand intelligently as you resize windows and the operating system's sharp angular software design looks its best on the 267ppi display.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Unfortunately some of the menus and dialogue boxes in Windows 10 and third-party apps (VLC Player is especially bad) are just too small to action with your fingers, which can be a little frustrating when using the device in tablet mode.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And the biggest problem with Windows 10 remains its lacklustre App Store offering.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There is still a drought of any compelling indie developers in the App Store, especially when compared to its Mac counterpart, which is brimming with beautiful third-party alternatives to system apps like calendar and notepad, as well as desktop clients for social media services like Twitter, Facebook and cross-platform messenger, WhatsApp.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But it's a small quibble and one that's unlikely to affect most Surface Pro 4 users, since the two-in-one boasts the ability to download and run any .exe system file - bypassing the Windows App Store entirely.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That means you'll be able to run Adobe's full Creative Cloud suite, or access the entire Steam gaming library, stream video games from your Xbox One or edit large video files with Sony Vegas Pro.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Surface Pro 4 is an impressive work-horse. Although, it would be nice if the Microsoft bundled a complimentary years' subscription to Office 365 with the device, which works in read-only mode out of the box.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But that's another minor quibble with an otherwise powerful work machine.</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Surface Book is the first laptop computer built entirely by Microsoft</td></tr>

</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
MICROSOFT’S ultimate laptop – the Surface Book – has been branded “deluded” by Apple CEO Tim Cook.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Apple CEO Tim Cook has branded Microsoft’s first laptop, the Surface Book, as “sort of deluded”.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The CEO of the world’s most valuable company made the comments during his <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/11/apple-ipad-pro-uk-release-date-and.html">publicity tour for the new Apple iPad Pro</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mr Cook <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/11/snooping-laws-will-leave-you-vulnerable.html">– who recently slammed proposed UK snooping laws spearheaded by Home Secretary Theresa May –</a> was asked to comment on Microsoft’s first laptop during a talk to an Irish college, earlier this week.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It's a product that tries too hard to do too much," said the Apple CEO.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"It's trying to be a tablet and a notebook and it really succeeds at being neither. It's sort of deluded."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cutting words from the Apple CEO, who insists the relationship between Microsoft and the Cupertino firm is still “really good.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft mocked the launch of the iPad Pro during its <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/10/surface-pro-4-windows-10-threshold-band.html">launch of the Surface Pro 4, Microsoft Band 2 and Surface Book last month</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Redmond technology firm poked fun at the lack of an eraser on the Apple Pencil – a feature included with the company's own Surface Pen.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It also knowingly referenced an earlier jibe from Tim Cook, who in April 2012 blasted tablet-laptop hybrids by saying "You can converge a toaster and a refrigerator, but those things are probably not gonna be pleasing to the user."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It appears Tim Cook's comments have done little to slowdown sales of Microsoft's first in-house laptop.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Within days of the Surface Book going on sale – Microsoft removed the ability to reserve a Surface Book, asking its customers to leave their email address so they can be notified when it is next in-stock.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Surface Book sports a detachable display with a staggering six million pixels and all-day battery life.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But a top-of-the-line Surface Book with a 512GB SSD, Core i7 with 16GB will cost an eye-watering $2,699 – a staggering £1,760.</div>

Microsoft has justified the Apple-esque pricing by saying that its new laptop is TWICE as fast as Apple's MacBook Pro.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It also has the highest resolution display of any laptop thanks to its stunning 13.5-inch PixelSense display with a 267 pixels-per-inch resolution.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For comparison, Google's Chromebook Pixel, a previous record holder, has just 239 pixels-per-inch. The Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display has 226ppi.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The stunning display on the Surface Book can also be detached thanks to the Muscle Wire Lock technology in the new hinge.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The display can also be re-attached so that the display is facing away from the keyboard, if you need to use the laptop in a presentation mode, or use the keyboard base to hold the touchscreen display at an angle.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Navigating around the Windows 10 operating system is controlled through the multi-touch glass trackpad.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft's "ultimate laptop" also includes a chiclet keyboard, with backlit keys which the Redmond firm say are "perfect" for typing and are almost silent when in use.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Powering the $1499 laptop is the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors which Microsoft claims makes the device more powerful than anything in Apple's roster.</div>
