Google's hugely-successful Android operating system has generated revenue of $31 billion, some £21.7 billion converted, a lawyer for Oracle has revealed in court.</div>

Of that figure, some $22 billion – £15.4 billion – was profit, the Oracle Corp. lawyer told a US court hearing during the software company's copyright lawsuit against Google.</div>

Google says the figures should never have been made public, and has asked the judge to redact and seal the transcript.</div>

Android – a free smartphone and tablet operating system launched back in 2008 – generates money for Google in two ways.</div>

Apple is thought to be developing a tool to allow customers to move data from their iPhone to Google's rival mobile platform, Android.</div>

The rumour comes after <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/09/apple-vs-android-google-fanboys.html">Apple released an app on the Google Play Store to help Android users transfer data to iOS</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But the Move to iOS app r<a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/09/apple-vs-android-google-fanboys.html">eceived a slew of vicious one-star reviews</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

"I've given it one star only because they won't allow a similar app on the App-Store, to move to Android (or any other platform for that matter). </div>

Now a senior industry source told <em>The Telegraph </em>that Apple is under increasing pressure to develop a tool to help users switch platforms in the opposite direction, amid fears of the Cupertino firm's dominance.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Major European telecoms operators fear only a fraction of Apple customers will ever leave the iOS ecosystem, partly because of the hassle of transferring data to rival platforms.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The iPhone's popularity amongst the most affluent customers means mobile carriers are dependent on supplies from Apple for their profits.</div>

But are we likely to see a shift in the top 10 in 2016?</div>

All the big manufacturers will be launching devices in the coming months with Samsung and HTC expected to be the first to show their hands in 2016.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Samsung is likely to unveil its Galaxy S7 in March and HTC could have a new M10 coming in the same month.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
LG's G5 will also be arriving and Sony will no doubt update their Xperia range later in the year.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, all eyes will be on Apple in the Spring when it's expected to reveal details on the cheaper and smaller iPhone 6c.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
September will also see the launch of an iPhone 7 which may finally be waterproof and could feature the end of the headphone port.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
One thing we do hope is that everyone follows Motorola's lead and makes all of their devices unbreakable.</div>

MICROSOFT has released its virtual voice assistant Cortana on iOS and Android smartphones.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft has this week released its digital assistant Cortana for iOS and Android devices.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Similar to Google Now and Siri on iOS, Cortana is able to answer general knowledge and maths questions, perform web searches, create reminders or set alarms, book Uber taxis and more.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cortana was previously only available on Windows Phone, but Microsoft is now using the service to connect Windows 10 PCs and smartphones running Android or iOS.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This lets Windows 10 PC owners set a location-based alert or reminder from their home computer – and pick it up later on their smartphone.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Any information stored in Cortana’s Notebook on your PC including your interests, weather preferences and more, will be ported over to your smartphone and any changes you make on one will be reflected on your other devices.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Cortana app on Android also allows PC owners to send and receive text messages from their desktop OS. Call notifications will also appear within Windows 10.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft had previously limited this functionality to customers running Windows 10 on their computer and smartphone.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Available now in the US and China and coming to other markets soon, the new Microsoft app could convince customers <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/10/windows-10-check-your-settings-now.html">to upgrade to the Windows 10 desktop operating system</a>, <a href="http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/science-technology/586090/Simple-Trick-Loophole-Anyone-Free-Upgrade-Windows-10-7-8-1-XP-Vista-Pirate">which is still free</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Microsoft has confirmed the Windows version of Cortana remains more powerful than its iOS and Android counterparts.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"There are some things Cortana can do on Windows phones that aren’t currently possible with iOS or Android," the Redmond technology firm confirmed.</div>

"This includes toggling settings or opening apps, and the ability to invoke Cortana hands-free by saying 'Hey Cortana'.</div>

Apple also allows customers to send and receive text messages from their desktop, sync your photo library and start or resume web browsing sessions, documents or emails between iOS and OS X devices.</div>

Director of Product Management at Google, Andrew Bowers first unveiled the Pixel C at the US firm's annual device refresh,<a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/09/google-nexus-6p-massive-leak-reveals.html"> back in September.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Tablets are great for games, reading or watching movies but they often force you back to a laptop when you want to write a document or respond to a long email," he told the audience.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"And while there are plenty of keyboard accessories, they're often just that – accessories."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Pixel C hopes to solve both of those problems. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And it succeeds. Well, <em>almost</em>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
<strong><em>NewsNewsBlog.blogspot.com</em> has been playing around with the Pixel C for the last couple of days and these are our first impressions of this brand-new Google device –</strong></h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Pixel C is a brilliant tablet – especially when compared to the somewhat <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/11/nexus-6p-review-has-google-finally.html">disappointing build quality of the creaky, plastic Nexus 9</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Svelte and stylish, the Pixel C is a meagre 7mm thick but feels solid in the hand, thanks to the anodised aluminium frame.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The subtle curves around the edges of the device mean it's a pleasure to use as a tablet – with the keyboard either magnetically attached to the back or tucked away in your rucksack. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Google has packed a pair of stereo speakers into the thin chasis, alongside a new USB Type C port for data transfers and fast-charging and a standard 3.5mm headphone port.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The stereo speakers – which are placed at the top and bottom of the device when it's held in portrait mode – are surprisingly loud and pleasantly clear, although they can't hold a candle <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/12/apple-ipad-pro-review-apples-giant.html">to the iPad Pro</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Unfortunately the placement of the speakers is a bit of a problem. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you're lounging on a sofa and holding the Pixel C in portrait mode, you will more than likely bury one of the speaker grills in your lap. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Spin the tablet around and hold in it landscape, and you'll likely cover the speaker grills with the palms of your hand.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Powering the Pixel C is a 64-bit Nvidia Tegra X1 coupled with 3GB of RAM. Predictably, this keeps the tablet smooth and responsive – even when it's required to do some heavy lifting.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Google has crammed a staggering 2560 x 1800 resolution display into this svelte tablet</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Google has also fitted the Pixel C with a eight megapixel rear camera and a two megapixel video chat camera. Both are fine, but nothing to write home about <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/11/nexus-6p-review-has-google-finally.html">– unlike the shooter on Google's recent Nexus 6P smartphone</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The US search firm has placed the front-facing camera so that it sits dead-centre in the top bezel while the Pixel C is docked in its keyboard, like a webcam on a traditional laptop set-up.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Most of the time, that works well. Although it does result in a slightly strange angle when you use the tablet in portrait mode to make a Skype call.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But that's a small quibble and there are always going to be compromises with these two-in-one hybrids – also dubbed convertibles, which is incidentally what the 'C' in Pixel C stands for.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Pixel C is a phenomenal tablet, thanks to its eye-watering 10.2inch display.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Google has crammed a staggering 2560 x 1800 resolution Low Temperature PolySilicon LCD display into this tablet – resulting in an impressive 308 pixels-per-inch.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The playful and colourful visuals in Android 6.0 Marshmallow shine on this bright, vibrant and pin-sharp display.</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Magnets keeps the keyboard attached to the Pixel C – and they are staggeringly strong</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although Google wants the Pixel C to be a more productivity-minded device – ogling at the latest blockbusters or playing stunning games like Monument Valley is a joy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Pixel C also packs an impressive battery life – some 34 hours by Google's count. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<em>NewsNewsBlog.blogspot.com</em> hasn't had a chance to put the Pixel C through its paces with our own battery test, which we will run before the full review, but we've rarely found ourselves reaching for the charger while using this tablet.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Pixel C is easily the best tablet Google has ever shipped – and its probably the best Android tablet on the market right now, but how does it stack-up as a productivity machine?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well, that depends entirely on what you want to do.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Director of Product Management Mr Bowers said the Pixel C was designed to stop tablets forcing us to reach for a "laptop when you want to write a document or respond to a long email".</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And judged by those requirements, the Pixel C is a rip-roaring success.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Google team has built a staggeringly good chiclet QWERTY keyboard that's fast and enjoyable to use.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Unfortunately it's not quite full size, although Google has slimmed down many of the symbol and function keys – like @ and TAB – to keep the letter keys as close to full-size as possible for this 10.2inch tablet.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This takes a little getting used to – but this is unmistakably a brilliant keyboard.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Google has also engineered a solid mechanism to attach the keyboard to the tablet.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The tablet attaches to a hinge, which allows users to adjust the screen angle from 100 to 135 degrees over 1.4 mm of travel, via strong magnets on the rear of the tablet.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The anodised aluminium keyboard is also solid enough to balance on your lap <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/12/surface-pro-4-review-microsoft-has.html">– unlike the Microsoft Surface Pro kickstand –</a> and charges over inductive charging.</div>

Unfortunately the Pixel C begins to fall-down as soon as you attempt to do anything more than "write a document or respond to a long email".</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Android Marshmallow still doesn't have split-screen support baked into the operating system, which immediately limits your productivity when compared to the <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/12/surface-pro-4-review-microsoft-has.html">aforementioned Surface Pro</a> or <a href="http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/science-technology/622615/Apple-iPad-Pro-Review-UK-Price-Pencil">Apple iPad Pro</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Pixel C is a flawless writing machine, thanks to the brilliant Google Docs app and accurate and enjoyably clicky keyboard.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But attempt to do anything more involved and the frustrations of Android Marshmallow will have you reaching for your laptop once again.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Pixel C is a brilliant tablet – and the solid keyboard is a great bonus. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But this killer accessory does not transform the Pixel C into a post-PC laptop replacement. It simply makes typing on the Pixel C much more enjoyable.</div>

Apple has launched a native Android app for its music streaming service, Apple Music.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Android app rolled out to the UK Google Play Store earlier today.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
All the headline features from the iOS Music app have made the transition to Android, including Beats 1 and Connect.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Curated playlists from the Apple Music curation team and branded partners like NME and Rolling Stones have also made the cut.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However music videos and the ability to sign-up for the discounted iCloud Family Plan are not yet available on the Android app.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Missing functionality is to be expected – after all, Apple says its first major Android app is still in “beta”.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The US technology giant believes it has fully-embraced the Android eco-system with its Apple Music app.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It’s a full native app, so it will look and feel like an Android app,” said Eddy Cue, Apple Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“The menus will look like Android, you know the little hamburger they use on the top. It’ll definitely feel very much like an Android app.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Apple has adapted its own design language so that Android users feel at home with Apple Music</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mr Cue said the decision to embrace Android’s stylistic quirks was made so that Android customers would feel at home with the Apple app.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He said: “We wanted customers on Android to naturally be able to use it – what they’ve learned and how they interact is common. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Things as simple as [that] the share icon looks like an Android share icon; the menu structure being where it is; these are things that most Android customers are familiar with. We wanted to make sure that they felt very familiar with Apple Music when they sat down to use it.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Apple Music is not the firm’s first Android app – although it is Apple’s biggest bet on the rival mobile operating system to date.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Apple Senior Vice President Eddy Cue equates the new Android app to the launch of iTunes on Windows.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“We did this with iTunes very early on when we did it for Windows,” he told TechCrunch.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It’s really important for artists to get as broad an audience as possible, and for us it’s really important because it gives us an opportunity to interact with customers who may not have experienced any of our products before.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The music streaming app’s presence in the Google Play Store will allow existing Apple Music subscribers greater flexibility with their devices.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And with a generous three-month free trial period for new subscribers, Apple Music is likely to entice a fair few new sign-ups, too.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But there is work to be done.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">All the headline features of the iOS Music App have made the transition to Android</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Android Apple Music App does yet support Chromecast or Chromecast Audio and there’s no sign of any Android Wear functionality either.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Apple has also optimised the app to work with smartphones, although a stretched version of the software will work with most Android tablets running version 4.3 or higher.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But Eddy Cue appears open about the improvements which could be made to the Android app.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“We’ll be getting feedback from customers and seeing where they’d like us to go,” reassured Mr Cue.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“One of the things is that we obviously don’t know a lot of these Android customers and we’re excited to hear what they’d like us to go do.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“This is our first true user app … we’ll see what kind of feedback we get.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“We’ve tried really hard to make a great app for Android. We’ll see what customers have to say.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div><iframe width="640" height="378" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BNUC6UQ_Qvg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To emphasise this point, Apple has included a prominent feedback button inside the Apple Music app menu to solicit responses from its new Android-based customers.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Apple Music on Android carries the same £9.99 per month price tag as it does on iOS and Mac.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
iTunes purchases made with your Apple ID will sync across to Android devices, although the latter does not allow customers to purchase any additional music from the iTunes Store.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
iCloud Music Library also syncs between the two rival mobile operating systems.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Android users will get the option to upgrade their free trial to a paid Apple Music subscription at the end of the third month.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
