The Google Nexus 6P is reportedly being built by Huawei, and boasts a stylish all-metal design |
GOOGLE is secretly preparing to launch TWO new Nexus smartphones, later this week. But a MASSIVE LEAK has reportedly spilled the beans on the new Android Marshmallow handsets.
It's almost impossible to keep a new smartphone under wraps these days.
From Samsung's Galaxy Note leaking on Amazon's months before its US launch, to Apple falling pray to multiple online leaks ahead of its new iPhone launch.
Now Google has suffered a MAJOR leak ahead of its upcoming Nexus launch.
The US firm is set to reveal the new Nexus handsets, but the full details have already been posted online.
According to AndroidPolice, the new Google phablet – dubbed Nexus 6P – will be built by Huawei.
The stylish all-metal smartphone will have a back-mounted fingerprint reader, similar to the Chinese firm's Mate S phone unveiled the IFA consumer electronics show in September.
According to the leaks, which have been substantiated by 9to5Google, the Nexus 6P will have almost the same size footprint as the Motorola-built Nexus 6.
The latest Nexus will feature a 5.7inch WQHD AMOLED display and a whopping 3,450 mAh battery |
According to the leaks, the Nexus 6P has a fingerprint reader to secure Android Pay transactions |
Weighing in a 159.4 mm x 77.8 mm x 7.3 mm – this is most definitely still a pocket-straining phablet. However to appeal to those with smaller hands, Google is reportedly planning to update its pocketable Nexus 5, too.
The leaked documents reportedly reveal a 5.7inch WQHD AMOLED display and a whopping 3,450 mAh battery.
Powering the new Pure Android smartphone is 3GB of RAM and a modified Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, the same processor that powered the HTC One M9.
Google Nexus smartphones have long been criticised for their relatively poor cameras, but this year Huawei appears to be bucking the trend.
Huawei are reportedly using a USB-Type C port to charge and sync the new Nexus 6P smartphone |
The Nexus 6P will reportedly sport a 12.3-megapixel rear camera, with an f/2.0 aperture.
A USB Type-C port, which we have so far only seen on the OnePlus Two will also be included in the new Nexus phone.
Faster charging through USB Type-C and Android Pay contactless transactions secured by the fingerprint scanner mean the Nexus 6P is sure to stand toe-to-toe with other 2015 flagships.
Whether or not its UK price-tag will reflect this status remains to be seen.
Google will roll-out the Nexus 6P worldwide in three main colours – Aluminium, Graphite, Frost, as well as Gold in Japan.
According to the leaks, the phablet will ship with three different internal storage configurations, 32GB, 64GB or 128GB.
As with all previous Nexus smartphones and tablets, the Nexus 6P will arrive with the latest version of Android, dubbed 6.0 Marshmallow and announced at Google I/O earlier this summer.
- Whatever Google decides to unveil, Express.co.uk will be at the event with all the news on September 29th.
