Star Wars Battlefront's Squadron mode has been well received but fans still dream of Space Battles |
STAR Wars: Battlefront is missing one key feature from previous games that fans seem desperate to see included on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, Space Battles.
The feature is gone and replaced with TIE Fighters and X-Wings battling it out above the skies in Fighter Squadron mode, giving fans the chance to jump into the iconic ships of the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire.
Aerial battles can include up to 20 players, with AI-controlled ships joining the fun as teams try to complete their objective of destroying more fighters than the other team. If your team reaches the score limit of 200 kills or has the most kills when the time limit is over, you achieve victory.
However, the community have struggled to move on from their memories of the epic battles found in Battlefront 2, where large scale encounters included huge capital ships and a lot of mayhem.

Hopes were raised for its return in a future DLC offering when DICE Producer Jesper Nielsen revealed earlier in 2015 that Battlefront Space Battles had been a topic of conversation and had not been written off completely.
The idea that Fighter Squadron mode could be expanded to include something like Space Battles is an intriguing one, although it appears that DICE may have higher priorities for other areas of the game.
DICE senior producer Sigurlina Ingvarsdottir spoke more on the future of Star Wars: Battlefront and how land battles appear to be their main focus.
"At the core, we’re an infantry game,"She told the Metro.
