Nintendo have revealed their plans for IPs on the Nintendo NX |
Designer and producer, Shigeru Miyamoto, spoke more on the Nintendo NX project today during an investor presentation held in Tokyo, explaining that the company were now ready to use their wealth of IPs when it comes to their future gaming expansion and strategy.
“We are going to be far more aggressive in using our IP, and not just stop with licensing, as in the past," he said.
"The first example is Amiibo. We want our IP to better reach more children, and smart devices is just one vehicle.”
Nintendo's first smartphone title, which could be described more as a communications app developed in partnership with DeNA, will be called Miitomo and will be free to play.
Miitomo will include what Nintendo have classed as 'attractive addons' that can be purchased, while the company's other smartphone game will be will be pay-to-download.
The new information comes from an investor presentation held today in Tokyo, while the company have now revealed more on the release of the Miitomo title.
"[Miitomo] is a free-to-start communication application that helps friends share fun personal facts and interests," a statement from Nintendo explains.
"Consumers create and use their own Mii characters to engage friends in a welcoming social environment, answering questions and sharing information to discover more about each other and what they have in common.

"Miitomo is designed to appeal to a wide range of global smart device users and introduce them to uniquely Nintendo experiences beginning with Miitomo and carried through future applications."
Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima, however, had some bad news for fans who were excited that the title would be released soon, instead revealing that it would not be available until March, 2016.
Kimishima is quoted as saying that the delay is due to "the need for more lead time to fully promote and explain Miitomo."
