MONTREAL IMPACT have confirmed striker Didier Drogba could be set for a return to former club Chelsea.
Drogba sat next to new Blues manager Guus Hiddink and Roman Abramovich during the 3-1 win over Sunderland last weekend.
And Hiddink admitted he wanted the 37-year-old, who had two stints at Stamford Bridge, on his back-room team.
He said: "He’s a legend, in this club and outside the club.
“The only thing is he is playing in Montreal, but I think all the big clubs have these specific guys or figures, who can be ambassadors, coaches, managers - but they must be given the opportunity."
Drogba is contracted to his Canadian MLS side until 2016 and scored 11 goals in 11 regular season games after making his debut in August.
Tweets from Montreal Impact's official accounts confirmed they are talking with Chelsea over Drogba's return, but they also indicate they want the striker to stay for another MLS season.
One tweet says: "We are currently in contact with Didier Drogba and Chelsea FC. We are doing everything we can to have him back with the Impact in 2016.">
