<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
The 28-year-old arrives at Elland Road on a two-and-a-half year deal and has reportedly cost Leeds a initial fee of just under £600,000.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And the uncapped Frenchman admits to move was a no brainer, despite also attracting interest from Scottish Championship side Rangers.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But Steve Evans has won the race for Diagouraga, who Rangers boss Mark Warburton managed dring his time at Griffin Park.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Diagouraga said on the move: “It came about very fast. Once I was aware Leeds were interested and a bid had been accepted, I came straight up here and made it happen. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It was a difficult decision to leave Brentford but I felt the time was right for me to take on a new challenge. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It’s a massive club with a massive fan base. It’s a club that belongs in the Premier League and one that should really be fighting for promotion. </div>

Leeds have signed midfielder Toumani Diagouraga from fellow Championship side Brentford. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According the <em>Yorkshire Post</em>, the 28-year-old Frenchman has signed a two-and-a-half year deal after meeting with club representatives today to agree personal terms in a move believed to be worth £600,000.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Rangers were also interested in the midfielder but Steve Evans has bolstered his ranks following the departure of Sam Byram to West Ham. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Everton boss Roberto Martinez admits the reason why Everton did not sign Sam Byram was because he 'was not the right player'. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The 22-year-old held talks with Martinez over a move to Goodison Park but opted to sign for West Ham in a £3.7million deal this week. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And Martinez claims that the proposed move was not right for both parties despite the club scouting him for six months and having a bid accepted. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
“We went through the correct procedures and we established a good relationship with Leeds, but in the end it was not the right move for Sam and he wasn’t the right player for us with the squad that we have," he said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“That was end of the matter really. I am pleased that we were at the forefront of identifying a player who has terrific potential but it was not right for both parties.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Massimo Cellino has reportedly been on a <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2016/01/leeds-owner-massimo-cellino-heads.html" rel="tag" target="_blank">scouting mission in Italy to find a replacement for Sam Byram</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Italian outlet <em>Tutto Mercato</em> claim the Leeds owner has begun his mission by watching right-back Fabrizio Cacciatore in action for Chievo on Sunday. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cacciatore, 29, played the full 90 minutes in Chievo's 1-1 home draw against Empoli.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://go.ad2up.com/afu.php?id=451019" rel="tag nofollow" target="_blank">Steve Evans insists Lewis Cook will not be sold</a> in the transfer window - but Sam Byram's future at Leeds United remains unclear.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cook, 18, is subject to a reported £5million bid from Premier League side Bournemouth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The midfielder is said to have caught the eye of Cherries manager Eddie Howe, who is keen on signing players in order to boost their survival chances.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Leeds owner Massimo Cellino yesterday explained that he didn't want to sell Cook and, ahead of Saturday's FA Cup third-round clash with Rotherham (3pm), manager Evans confirmed the club's resolution.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"There's no doubt there's very solid interest in Lewis Cook," Evans said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"I had a strategy meeting with the president yesterday and Lewis Cook is simply not going anywhere. There is no more conversations to have about Lewis Cook.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The president is in receipt of some offers, yes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"He's always said to me that we get into real discussion if he has a view of accepting it and what we do with that money.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"But it was very clear when I sat down with him that he had no interest accepting either of them.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Every player in the world is for sale. Some clubs may say they're not but they are.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"(Cook) is not going to be sold in this window."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another Leeds academy product, Sam Byram, <a href="http://go.ad2up.com/afu.php?id=451019" rel="tag nofollow" target="_blank">has also attracted the attention of Premier League scouts</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Byram, 22, has not signed a new Leeds contract and his current deal expires this summer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The right-back is free to discuss pre-contract terms with other sides ahead of a free transfer, with Leeds getting compensation.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But the club believe they can cash in on Byram now and potentially earn around £8m for their ace, with Evans confirming a deal could be done but later in the transfer window.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Again there is a lot of interest in Sam. He's in a slightly different position," Evans said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"He's admired by some coaches in the league above and one or two of those coaches have had conversations with the president. But that's still a long way off from anything concrete from happening.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"As a head coach you're very fortunate to work with so many gifted players as we've got. Decisions on whether we sell a player lie at the door of the president.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"It's always been said to me that is has to be right for Leeds United if players are to be moved on and it has to be right for the player.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"We are a long way from anyone leaving the football club as we sit here now."</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Leeds have already extended the loan agreement of Liam Bridcutt this winter and are expected to sign a striker before the window closes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Kyle Lafferty is Evans' top priority but the manager revealed negotiations with Norwich have stalled.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"I think it's no secret that, as has been said, we want it on a loan deal with the option of a permanent deal.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Norwich respectfully say they want it to be permanent. We are not going to be doing it in a permanent basis initially.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"We want to, if it's possible, bring the player here but it's proving very difficult and if it proves not to be the case then we're not only thinking of Kyle Lafferty but there are other strikers we are talking to.</div>

Ince, on for Andreas Weimann, fired in from the centre of the box in the 78th minute to cancel out the Chris Wood header which had given Leeds the lead.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Earlier, Lee Grant had cause to regret United’s decision to finally allow the Sky TV cameras into Elland Road.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It meant an embarrassing blunder by the Derby keeper, who gifted an equaliser to Leeds, was witnessed by many more than the 23,207 who were in the ground.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Grant almost escaped analysis from the sofa and in pubs because Leeds owner Massimo Cellino did not back down in his battle with Sky until less than five hours before the kick-off.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He had banned them from the ground because he is furious that his club had already been on live TV nine times, claiming it disrupted the team and affected attendances.</div>

Cellino ordered his staff to unlock the gates in the afternoon after an intervention from the Football League, but later accused league bosses of bringing their competition into disrepute.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He said: “The Football League regulations are supposed to be there to protect the integrity of the sporting competition, not to be used as a stick to beat the club on behalf of Sky.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It is to be noted that the league threaten a disrepute charge against the club. It is the league who are bringing their own competition into disrepute by unfairly prejudicing Leeds (and certain other clubs) by allowing Sky to unfairly disrupt Leeds United for their own commercial purposes.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Leeds struggled to find their rhythm in this game and went behind after only 13 minutes. Jeff Hendrick, recalled by Derby head coach Paul Clement, tricked his way past two defenders before sliding the ball past Marco Silvestri.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Grant threw away Derby’s lead with his blunder in the 42nd minute. He dropped a cross when not under pressure and desperately flew forward to try and retrieve the ball.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He was rescued once when a shot by Sam Byram was blocked, but was still back-pedalling when he could only parry a cross from Stuart Dallas straight to Sol Bamba, who fired Leeds level.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Grant could not be blamed for United’s second goal which came in the 71st minute after a spell in which the teams cancelled each other out.</div>

Byram provided the chance with a cross that was headed in by Wood from close range.</div>

Forest 1 - Leeds 1: Premier League target Sam Byram grabs late equaliser in Nottingham

THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE did their best to ruin Nottingham Forest's festive spirit by slapping a transfer embargo on the Championship club on Christmas Eve. </div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sam Byram salutes the Leeds fans after his equaliser at Nottingham Forest</td></tr>

</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
It was the second time in successive years Forest had breached Financial Fair Play rules. The ban will run until the end of the season and means Forest will have gone 18 months without paying for a player - not that they need to.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Manager Dougie Freedman insisted back in February his squad was strong enough to cope without buying new recruits. And they were here - for a time.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Freedman won seven of his first 10 games in charge to push the side towards the top half of the table, but a lack of fresh faces eventually told as the club ended the season winless from eight outings.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Leeds rose and slumped in the same fashion with Neil Redfearn in charge after also enduring last January's window under an embargo.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
This term, without any summer recruits, Forest have been just as inconsistent. Bursts of form bookmarked an autumn period where they again went eight games without a win and were looking nervously at the drop zone.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Freedman's men are recovering well from that drought and, just like Leeds, are playing catch-up on the Championship play-off places, although yesterday's draw will help neither side in that pursuit.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Last summer Freedman brought in three men on free transfers. Attacker Jamie Ward, from Derby, has kept his place, as has former Bolton defender Matt Mills.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
But it was promising Spaniard Daniel Pinillos, a free arrival from Cordoba, who has most impressed at the City Ground - and who will be sorely missed after his season was ended by a cruciate ligament injury before Christmas.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Michael Mancienne moved left to fill in for Pinillos yesterday, with Jack Hobbs partnering the impressive Mills.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Leeds looked the brighter side in the opening stages, striker Chris Wood seeing a free header cleared off the line. But Forest took the lead when Mills split Giuseppe Bellusci and the out-rushing Marco Silvestri to hand forward Nelson Oliveira a tap-in.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Mills could have scored himself as Forest sought a second after the break but, like Wood, his header from a corner was cleared onto a post.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
And it was a vital block for Leeds as Sam Byram slammed home the equaliser with 10 minutes left, the 22-year-old drilling into the bottom corner from 25 yards.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">

<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Substitute Ward hit the post in the last minute but it was a reprieve Leeds deserved considering their fightback.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
The point continues Leeds' festive drought - they have not won a fixture immediately after Christmas since 2009.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Manager Steve Evans has an equally large task to navigate his club through January and out the other end thinking of promotion rather than survival.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Byram, their star full-back playing in midfield at the City Ground, is out of contract next summer.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
He could leave Elland Road for the Premier League's highest bidder next month, with Leeds left to decide if they should cash in on him now or hold out for compensation in the summer.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Byram clearly has a taste for Premier League football - he was booked for diving 14 minutes in - but while his goal will lead this game's highlights package his overall performance won't have impressed any scouts watching.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
What is going at Leeds United?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The club have enjoyed a shock resurgence under Steve Evans - having flirted with the relegation spots earlier in the season.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's almost as though things are going to plan for once.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While owner Massimo Cellino toys with the fans - telling them he is ready to sell up before frustrating everyone by changing his mind - Evans has been plugging away at rescuing Leeds on the pitch.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And it has worked. Since Uwe Rosler was sacked in October, Leeds have lost just three of 11 games. In fact, after five wins in eight and the West Yorkshire club are suddenly looking up the Championship table rather than down.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Victories over Wolves and Preston before Christmas are a great boost for the club but for Evans it means he may have more bargaining power in January when asking Cellino for transfer funds.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And with that in mind, <em>News News Blog Sport</em> takes a look at what could happen to Leeds in the transfer window.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<strong>What do they need?</strong></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A goalscorer, first and foremost, is a top priority at Elland Road. New Zealand striker Chris Wood has done a commendable job up front - often on his own - but the goals are drying up.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Wood has scored just four times since August, while Souleymane Doukara and Lee Erwin are yet to find the net.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mirco Antenucci, who plays off Wood, has scored just twice in his last 14 games and winger/forward Jordan Botaka is struggling to even get off the bench.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Leeds have not really replaced Ross McCormack, who was sold to Fulham last season, and will struggle to get out of this league until they do so.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Stuart Dallas (left) reportedly cost Leeds around £1.5m</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<strong>How much can they spend?</strong></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Depending on how serious Cellino is on this project, it could be a lot, or it could be nothing.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cellino signed off on some big-money moves in the summer, with Stuart Dallas arriving from Brentford for an estimated £1.5million.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But if Evans wants to splash the cash then he will probably have to sell one his promising academy products before dipping into the market himself.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Loan options are most likely at this point, with Leeds unlikely to be relegated or push for promotion there appears little point adding to a team that will only be rejigged come the summer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">iam Bridcutt's (left) loan at Leeds expires in January</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<strong>Who might they sign?</strong></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Leeds pushed for a long time to land Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt on loan - but his deal will expire in January.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Manager Evans may choose to extend Bridcutt's lease after starting him for United's last five games.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, Evans' best bet at landing new recruits may come from his old side Rotherham, although former Elland Road boss Neil Redfearn would not want to lose any of his players to his old club.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Evans tried to sign Norwich striker Kyle Lafferty in the loan window but failed to get his man.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A fresh bid may come in for Northern Ireland international Lafferty, who is desperate for games ahead of Euro 2016 next summer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But Norwich are aware that the 28-year-old may be needed next season if the Canaries are relegated to the Championship.</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sam Byram (left) could exit Elland Road for the right price</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<strong>Who could leave?</strong></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sam Byram. Leeds' in-demand full-back has attracted the eye of a number of Premier League clubs over the past few months.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He is reportedly valued at £8m and has Everton, Arsenal and Liverpool on his tail.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, Leeds may struggle to cash in on the 22-year-old.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Byram's contract expires next summer and he is holding off on penning a new deal.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The riches of the Premier League await and Byram, who can also play at right midfield, could agree a free transfer for the summer as early as January.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Leeds may therefore try and flog him on the cheap in the New Year rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the season.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another young star wanted in the top flight is Lewis Cook, who is valued at £10m.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The midfielder, 18, made his debut at the start of last season and is already a key member of the United squad.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He boasts six yellow cards and a red for the club this season, having played 20 times.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/627467/Leeds-Lewis-Cook-future-Manchester-United-Liverpool-transfer-news-gossip" rel="tag" target="_blank">Manchester United and Liverpool</a> are said to be keen on signing the ace but York-born Cook recently spoke out against the idea of leaving Leeds.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"I'm playing my football at Leeds at the moment so I'm enjoying my time here," he told <em>Sky Sports</em>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"We're doing well so we'll see what happens in the future.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"I just try not to read anything. Nothing's happened so I can't really comment on it, I'm just enjoying playing for Leeds.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"It's great for me [to be playing in the Championship] personally. It's much better than playing in the U21s somewhere.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Playing a lot of games in the Championship at a really intense level is competitive, really good for me, and can improve you as a player."</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
ANY thoughts of a happy birthday for Leeds boss Steve Evans quickly disappeared as his big night at Elland Road ended in disappointment.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Evans is 53 today but the celebrations were put on hold as his first home game in charge only brought more of the same.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Leeds have not won at home since March 4 in a run that now extends to a club record 12 games.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Blackburn have won more often at Elland Road since then and it took them just 17 seconds to set up a first away win of the season and a repeat of their victory here in April.</div>

Rovers hadn't scored in their last three games but they quickly ended their drought, straight from the kick-off, when defender Sol Bamba mis-cued an attempted headed clearance from Tom Lawrence and Craig Conway lashed the ball home at the far post.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
If that was bad, things quickly got worse for Leeds as Jordan Rhodes made it 2-0 with five minutes gone.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Again Lawrence - who previously played on loan from Leicester under Evans at Rotherham - was involved as he fed the ball into Rhodes.</div>

<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
And the Scotland international, whose father Andy is a friend of Evans, easily beat Sam Byram before steering home a shot from 15 yards to claim his eighth goal in nine games.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
That triggered a chorus of boos as Leeds owner Massimo Cellino looked on stony-faced and even though Leeds improved, a header from Tom Adeyemi was the nearest they came to pulling a goal back.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Evans said: “The league table doesn’t lie. We knew the job would be a big one anyway When we haven’t won at home for seven months the supporters are already on edge when they walk in the door and they are entitled to be unhappy. I thought the supporters were reserved.</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
“It might have been a bit more at my if we had gone 2-0 down in six minutes.”</div>
<div class="storycopy" style="text-align: justify;">
Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer said: “There was a lot said in the build-up to the game about what it would be like here so it was important we came out of the traps very fast.”

The 21-year-old has been in top form this season for <a href="http://www.newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/search/label/Leeds%20United" target="_blank">Uwe Rosler's side</a> and has impressed <a href="http://www.newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/search/label/Louis%20Van%20Gaal" target="_blank">Louis van Gaal</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Dutchman has sent <a href="http://www.newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/search/label/Manchester%20United" target="_blank">United</a> scouts to check on him this season and had planned a move in the summer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
But Van Gaal lost his <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/09/revealed-man-utd-expect-luke-shaw-to.html" target="_blank">first choice left back Shaw last night</a> and is now considering a January bid.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Taylor made his Leeds bow in 2011 and has represented England at under-19 level.</div>

United moved Daley Blind to left-back last night and Marcos Rojo can also play the role. </div>
