Alex Teixeira is desperate to force through his January move to Liverpool

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre flew out for talks with the Ukrainian club last week, but News News Blog Sport understands negotiations have yet to progress.

But the player is keen on heading to Anfield before Monday's transfer deadline and is said to have missed another friendly for Shakhtar.

Teixeira hasn't played since Shakhtar's 1-1 friendly draw with Brazilian club Fluminense on January 17.

Eastern European football expert Artur Petrosyan wrote on Twitter: "Teixeira has missed another friendly. Shakhtar didn't want to risk him. They're leaving USA now and waiting for the final #LFC bid."

Shakhtar beat new American franchise Miami City 5-0 yesterday with Teixeira a notable absentee.

The Brazilian posted a picture of himself appearing to leave Shakhtar's winter training camp in the states, suggesting he was on his way to Brazil.

Teixeira revealed all in an interview with Anfield HQ, saying: "The team received one official offer from Liverpool.

"It was rejected. I don't know why. It was a great offer. It is frustrating but the manager and club president decided against it so now I am just waiting. Trying to be patient.

"It (Liverpool) is a huge club so many great players have passed through there. It would be an honour to defend the Liverpool shirt.

"There has only been one offer of 32m euros and Shakhtar rejected it. I know my agent is still attempting everything possible to help me get to Liverpool.

"I want to be there but that is up to the club president. Now I can only hope. I don't know what else to say."
