Chelsea shock as Roman Abramovich adds four Premier League bosses to manager shortlist

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will appoint a new boss in the summer when interim manager Guus Hiddink steps down.

Hiddink has intimated he will not remain at Stamford Bridge past the end of the season after replacing sacked boss Jose Mourinho last month.

And while Abramovich has a number of star names on his radar, he has apparently added four Premier League managers to his contingency list.

According to The Telegraph,
Leicester's Claudio Ranieri (a former Blues boss), Stoke's Mark Hughes (a former Chelsea player) and Bournemouth newcomer Eddie Howe are among the club's Plan B options.

Pep Guardiola is Abramovich's No 1 target but he is expected to join Manchester City when he leaves Bayern Munich this summer. Manchester United are also interested.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is another frontline option along with Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri and Italy manager Antonio Conte.

But The Telegraph add Chelsea's hierarchy are expanding their search given the very real possibility of the club missing out on Champions League football and finishing in the bottom half of the Premier League.
Jorge Sampaoli is a another option after he left his position at Chile last week.

France boss Didier Deschamps has also been mooted, as has Mauricio Pochettino but Tottenham would be very reluctant to let him go.

So Abramovich has altered his sights to look at managers within the Premier League at less high-profile clubs.

He knows Ranieri, the mastermind behind Leicester's title challenge, having fired him in 2004 and bringing in Mourinho for his first spell at the club.

English boss Howe is said to have impressed Chelsea's decision makers at Bournemouth while Blues old boy Hughes also has admirers within his former club.
