Fabregas was handed a return to England by Mourinho 16 months ago |
CESC FABREGAS has thanked axed manager Jose Mourinho for his work at Chelsea.
The Portuguese manager has left the club just seven months after lifting his third Premier League title for the Blues.
And Fabregas, whom Mourinho brought to the club from Barcelona last summer, has revealed his feelings over the boss' dismissal.
"Thank you for all you have done for me," Fabregas posted on his Instagram account.
"I owe you a lot and we will all miss you.
"Good luck in the future and I know you will be back soon."
Fabregas was a rival of Mourinho's during his first spell at Chelsea, when the Spanish midfielder was at Arsenal.
The World Cup winner left London for Barcelona in 2011, but told the club he wanted to leave again three years later.
Chelsea paid in the region of £23million for the midfielder as Mourinho spent more than £100million in an effort to create a title-winning side.
Mourinho was initially successful, and Fabregas played 34 league games, providing 18 assists as Chelsea won the Premier League title with three games to spare.
However, Fabregas has been far from his best this year, with just two assists in his 16 league appearances.
