SUNDERLAND and Norwich have set their sights on a move for Ron Vlaar.
 
That is according to the Sunday People, who claim the Premier League pair are prepared to offer the free agent a deal in the New Year.
Vlaar has been without a club since the summer after he saw out his contract at Aston Villa, where he was named captain during his three-year stay.
 
The Netherlands international's bid to find a new club has been out been delayed after undergoing knee surgery, which has kept him out of action for eight months. 
The 30-year-old - who has been training with AZ Alkmaar as he steps up his rehabilitation - is also believed to have received a number of offers from Germany.

Everton have been credited with an interest in the experienced centre-half, but that there have been no discussions to date.
The Toffees boss said: “He has experience in the Premier League. He is unattached, but there has been no discussions and nothing to comment on."
