Roberto Martinez rules out move for Ron Vlaar |
ROBERTO MARTINEZ has responded to speculation linking Everton with a move for Ron Vlaar.
The Netherlands international is currently a free agent after seeing out his contract at Aston Villa at the end of last season.
Vlaar was surprisingly linked with Premier League pair Arsenal and Manchester United in the summer but a move was put on hold after undergoing surgery on a torn medial meniscus.
Reports have since linked Everton with an approach for the 30-year-old centre-half.
But while Martinez acknowledges Vlaar's background in England, the Toffees boss insists the club have not held talks with his representatives.

“[Ron Vlaar] has experience in the Premier League," the Spaniard said. "He is unattached, but there has been no discussions and nothing to comment on."
The Dutchman spent three seasons at Villa Park, where he was named captain in 2012 following the departure of Stiliyan Petrov.
