The personnel at Rockstar have proved a dab hand at creating some seriously successful content for GTA 5, which have also been keeping fans busy.
This weekend saw the release of a Friday The 13th special, allowing fans to build up their cash reserves and RP by doubling the payout on a select 'Slasher' playlist.
Two horror-themed jobs were offered along with other especially scary Adversary Modes, including "Siege Mentality" and “Hunting Pack”.
These events spreads throughout the year help fans buy some of the new expensive gear and cars that have been added to the game and is also one of the reasons of the continued success of GTA Online.
Updated earnings results for the quarter ending September 30 from Rockstar Games' parent company Take-Two Interactive have been revealed, showing strong growth in microtransaction sales.
Keeping the game loaded with new content appears to be working out for Take Two, with the largest contributors to net revenue in the fiscal second quarter 2016 were NBA 2K16, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online, NBA 2K15, and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection.
Revenue from recurrent consumer spending - including virtual currency, downloadable add-on content and online games over multiple titles - grew 39% year-over-year and accounted for 51% of net revenue from digitally-delivered content.
Digitally-delivered revenue stood at $141 million, according to Take Two, with the largest contributors listed as Grand Theft Auto, NBA 2K, Borderlands and the WWE 2K series.
Metal Gear Solid 5's iconic director, Hideo Kojima teased fans before its launch that the game would features something that had never been tried in video games before and it seems we may have found just what he had planned.
Fans on PC have unlocked a new ending that includes a secret nuclear cut-scene that reveals an alternative look to some of the game's key characters.
The cool Easter egg has so far eluded users on all platforms, with no one managing to trigger it as of yet.
And unfortunately for fans who hope to see it outside of Youtube, the task at hand looks pretty steep.
The official Metal Gear Solid V strategy guide reveals that fans need to have completed mission 31 and must have no nuclear weapons or be building one.
The next step involves "certain conditions related to nuclear proliferation" to be met on the regional servers including the corresponding platform of either PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 or Xbox 360.
The final condition that must be met is that the total number of nukes available on the server must be zero.
That means a lot of players working together to remove the nuclear threat, something that appears almost impossible.
Video game publisher Activision look to have scored another breakthrough hit in the Call of Duty franchise with the release of Black Ops 3.
Claiming it to be the biggest entertainment launch of the year, the games giant have estimated that in its first three days, the Black Ops 3 exceeded $550 million in sell-through worldwide
This would mean it would be crowned the biggest opening weekend entertainment launch of 2015, including theatrical box office, music and book launches.
“The Call of Duty: Black Ops III launch is bigger than any game, any movie, or any entertainment launch this year. But more importantly, our fans are engaging more deeply with the franchise than ever before. In fact, so far, people are playing Black Ops III for more hours per player than any Call of Duty game on record”, said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing.
“Call of Duty is more than a game, it’s a year round passion for a growing base of millions of fans and it’s only gaining momentum.”
While Adam Boyes, VP of Publisher and Developer Relations, Sony Computer Entertainment America, added: “As we‘ve said from the start, PlayStation is the best place to play Call of Duty and this record-breaking launch shows how true this statement is.
"Black Ops III is the biggest launch of the year so far and the PlayStation Nation is ready. We’re proud to call PlayStation the home of Call of Duty and look forward to supporting our community with DLC map pack content first."
