Jamie Vardy has been compared to Lionel Messi |
JAMIE VARDY can finish like Lionel Messi, according to former strike-partner Gareth Seddon.
The Leicester striker has been in blistering form in front of goal this season, netting 13 times in 14 appearances in all competitions.
And the 28-year-old had the opportunity to make history if he scores against Manchester United today (5.30pm).
It would be his 11th consecutive Premier League goal, taking him past former United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy's record.
And his former Fleetwood team-mate Seddon believes his prowess in front of goal has always been plain to see, comparing him to Messi.
"We quickly realised what a good player he was - he just sort of glided across the pitch," he told the Daily Star.
"By the end of the season we all knew he had to move on. Every time he got the ball he would finish it off. He doesn't miss.
"He is so calm in front of goal. He can dink the ball like Lionel Messi.
"He just never seems to be fazed. I've seen pros at big clubs snap at chances - but not Vards."
