FACEBOOK is DRAINING the battery life on your iPhone behind your back.
Facebook’s official iPhone app is munching away at your battery life.
The US social network has this week acknowledged reports of the smartphone app draining battery life on iPhones running the latest version of iOS, dubbed 9.0.2.
Users have flooded social media with complaints about the app – which can drain over a THIRD of your iPhone battery.
Facebook's iOS app is also able to run in the background, draining mobile data and battery life, even with the background app refresh setting toggled off.
A spokesperson for the hugely popular social network told NewsNewsBlog.blogspot.com: "We have heard reports of some people experiencing battery issues with our iOS app.
"We’re looking into this and hope to have a fix in place soon."
But until Facebook rolls out an update for its smartphone app, the only solution to stop the battery rot is to remove the app from your smartphone.

A number of experts believe the issue could be triggered by the app playing silent audio from its new auto-playing videos.
As the majority of Facebook users do not disable the auto-play functionality, Facebook could keep the muted track running in the background without users becoming aware.
This would explain why the app is working in the background – despite your settings – and sapping at your smartphone battery.

The Californian firm has not commented on the speculation over the source of the glitch.
The battery life bug comes days after Facebook announced it would be doubling down on video content across its social network service.
Facebook has announced a series of new experimental video features which could be rolling out to your News Feed soon.
Amongst the new options for the hugely popular social network is a new picture-in-picture mode, which allows playing clips to follow you down the News Feed as you scroll.
Facebook Vice President of Product Management Will Cathcart claims the new features are meant to "give people more flexibility when watching videos."
The Californian firm is in the process of testing a dedicated section for videos within its mobile apps and website.
