West Ham and Aston Villa lead race as Watford and Monaco consider Tottenham reject

Emmanuel Adebayor is free to sign for a new club after his release from Tottenham

ASTON VILLA are the favourites to sign Tottenham outcast Emmanuel Adebayor with bookmakers.

 

The striker's contract at White Hart Lane was ripped up today and he is now a free agent.

However, as part of the terms of his exit from Spurs, Adebayor will not be able to play until January.

 

That doesn't appear to have put off former boss Tim Sherwood, whose Aston Villa side are 1/1 to sign him with Sky Bet.

The 31-year-old was rejuvenated in north London temporarily under Sherwood's tutelage but has been frozen out ever since his sacking.

Adebayor was thought to be close to moving to Villa Park in the summer and even had a medical and donned Villa colours.

 

It was reported that he was waiting for a "sign from god" before considering any move and his prayers may now be answered as Villa are also facing illustrious competition for his signature.

Ligue 1 giants Monaco (4/1) are also in the race, while West Ham are priced at 5/1.

QPR are 8/1 - the same price as a move to any MLS club - and Watford are the outsiders at 10/1.
