Manchester United hand David De Gea £40million deal to make him highest paid goalkeeper
David De Gea returned to the Manchester United team against Liverpool
DAVID DE GEA's new four-year Manchester United contract is worth a staggering £40million.

According to the Sunday Times, the deal which is more than £10m a year, makes the Spaniard the highest paid goalkeeper in football.
De Gea, who had one year left on his contract, was the subject of a transfer deadline day move by Real Madrid after intense speculation over his future throughout the summer.

However the deal collapsed when the necessary paperwork failed to be submitted in time.
The new contract means Madrid may have to pay a world-record fee for a goalkeeper to bring the 24-year-old to the Bernabeu next summer.

After being kept away from the first-team, De Gea made his first appearance for United this season against Liverpool last night.
But he was unable to keep a clean sheet as he was beaten by an outstanding Christian Benteke overhead kick.
