DALEY BLIND says Manchester United were left shattered by Luke Shaw's horrific double leg break.
 
But Blind admits United cannot use the incident as an excuse for their in their opening Champions League group B fixture.
Blind, who took over Shaw's left-back role after the , said: "It's always a massive blow if one of your team-mates incurs an injury like that.
 
"We are a strong team unit so it cuts into you. It's something you may not actually be influenced by at the time but subconsciously it gets into your heads.
"But you have to let it pass. And we can't blame the defeat on the injury."
 
It was the second time this season United have lost a game after taking the lead - they also went down 2-1 at Swansea in the Premier League before the international break.
And Blind admits they have to become more ruthless and kill games off.
He added: "We played well in the first half.
"We created many chances and had the opportunity to decide the game by half-time.

"In the second half neither team created a lot but they eventually benefitted from an error by us.
"We have had enough chances but failed to finish it."
United now face Wolfsburg at Old Trafford in a fortnight time needing a win to get back on track for qualification from their group. 
The German club got off to a flyer by winning their opening game against CSKA Moscow.
