Platini was banned along with FIFA president Sepp Blatter last month over a £1.3million payment he received from FIFA in 2011. He has appealed to FIFA's appeals committee and is expected to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport if that fails.</div>

UEFA's executive committee met yesterday and decided to delay any election until the outcome of that process. Platini has already withdrawn as a candidate for next month's FIFA presidential election.</div>

“I’ve probably done very little, I’m not sure I can even justify my wages. Obviously the manager deserves massive credit because he’s the one making the calls, and he’s got most of them right.</div>

“I still believe we have players who are technically quite good players. I still believe we have got players who will get better. To some extent the lack of composure we showed on one or two occasions, compared to their incredible composure, might be due to the fact that quite a few of them are a little bit new.</div>

“And Spain don’t press the ball badly either. They don’t give you a lot of time on the ball. Funnily there were moments in the game when we did get the ball down and pass it that we made them look a little bit more normal.”</div>
