CHELSEA are favourites to land Premier League title winner Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager, according to reports.
The Blues are seeking a head coach to take over for the long term once Guus Hiddink’s interim stint finishes at the end of the season.
News News Blog Sport understands Pellegrini, who will leave Manchester City to make way for Pep Guardiola in the summer, is on Chelsea’s list of candidates.
Reports in Chile claim he has already been contacted by Chelsea officials.
And the Manchester Evening News now claim Pellegrini, 62, is favourite to take over the Stamford Bridge reins.
It is claimed the Chilean’s odds have dropped to 2/1 after he confirmed his exit from the Etihad on Monday.
Chelsea had reportedly been chasing Bayern Munich’s Guardiola but will revert to Plan B following the Spaniard’s three-year agreement at City.
Paris Saint-Germain are also thought to be eyeing Pellegrini, who won the Premier League title in his first season in Manchester.
It is understood current PSG boss Laurent Blanc will be let go unless he wins the Champions League this season.
"I hope to remain with competitive teams in Europe, I am not thinking about returning to Chile at least for the next three or four years," Pellegrini said recently when discussing his future.
