JESSE LINGARD has insisted Louis van Gaal is not to blame for Manchester United's recent poor form.
United ended a run of 11 matches without a first half goal at Old Trafford by scoring twice against Stoke through Lingard and Anthony Martial.
Captain Wayne Rooney wrapped up the match in the second half, sealing a comfortable 3-0 victory and keeping them in the hunt for the Champions League next season.
Van Gaal has come under fire for United's style of play this season from supporters with just five wins in 13 matches in all competitions.
But Lingard believes the players have been at fault, not the Dutchman.
"With the results, it's not the manager's fault, we've been on the pitch playing," he said.
"You've seen that we can get results we need if we put our mind to it."
