SUNDERLAND have stepped up their efforts to sign Swansea striker Andre Ayew after hiring an agent to try and engineer a swap deal, according to reports.
News News Blog Sport exclusively revealed Sunderland are planning a £14million bid after failing with their opening £11m offer for the 26-year-old.
And Swansea coach Alan Curtis has openly admitted that he does not want their top goalscorer to leave this month.
"There was talk of him going to Sunderland or them making a bid," Curtis said.
"But we wouldn't even entertain that as far as I am concerned. He is one of a number of big players for us and we don't want to lose anybody during the window."
However, according to French news outlet FootMercato, Sunderland have recruited an unnamed agent to try and negotiate a swap deal with the struggling Swans.
With the agent in question being given the green light to try and lure Ayew to the Stadium of Light by offering Fabio Borini and/or Jordi Gomez in exchange for the Ghana international.
Ayew has also been linked with a move to boyhood favourites Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp believed to keen to solve his injury crisis at Anfield before the window shuts.
Ayew joined Swansea on a free transfer from Marseille last summer and has scored seven goals in 22 appearances.
