NEYMAR has reportedly held transfer talks with Real Madrid amid ongoing interest from Manchester United.
The 23-year-old is understood to have been tracked by United last summer and according to reports the club are willing to match his £140m buy-out clause.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claimed this month Louis van Gaal is willing to pull out all the stops to sign the Barcelona ace.
However, it seems the Premier League club might be on the back foot with Real Madrid holding talks with the attacker in Zurich last week.
Neymar was in the Swiss city for the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony, and according to Spanish radio station Onda Cero, Real used the opportunity to hold talks.
It's understood Madrid's president Florentino Perez sent good friend Wagner Ribeiro on his behalf to sound out a deal.
But it's claimed the Brazilian is merely using their interest to leverage a better contract at Barca in light of recent tax concerns in Spain.
Neymar currently earns nearly £7m a year on is current deal which runs until June 2018, however, his father and agent Neymar Snr has suggested he wants more.
"We will respect Neymar’s contract with Barça but regarding the contract extension, we need a deal that gives us peace of mind for Neymar, my companies and my family," he said.
