PS4 gamers are reporting that the PSN is down and online access is currently not available.
UPDATE TWO: New reports are coming in today suggesting that PlayStation 4 users are struggling to access the PlayStation Network in the UK and North America.
Fans have been commenting on new problems connecting to core PSN services, with some seeing themselves disconnected mid-multiplayer session.
It is currently not known what could be causing the new outage, although it appears it could also be affecting players as far-a-field as South Korea.
One user commented: "PSN is down here, party chat isn't working but not sure about gaming networks.
Another replied: "Yeah just happened here, I was in the middle of teaching some newbs how to play Star Wars: Battlefront. (sic)
There has been no change in the PSN status from Sony as of this time.

UPDATE ONE: Issues first reported last night appear to have ended, with no new widespread reports of sign in issues or online outages for several hours.
Problems first started being flagged by fans around 8pm, UK time and is currently stopping some users accessing online multiplayer.
Other owners have revealed that they are currently unable to sign into their next-gen console, although the problems aren't thought to be nearly as widespread as last week's outage.
PS4, PS3 and PS Vita fans found themselves kicked off the PlayStation Network for around ten hours, with Sony confirming that all core services had been knocked offline.
The tech giant revealed that they plan to compensate fans for the downtime with extensions to PS Plus, PS Now, and video rentals.
One affected users from the UK wrote: "I got my ps4 on Christmas and I can't connect online, what has happened this time?"
PSN and Xbox Live services were threatened with a sustained DDOS attack during the 2015 holiday period, much like what happened in 2014.
However, these service outages failed to materialise and it is not thought that the recent ten-hour outage was connected with a DDOS attack.
The official PlayStation Service Status page run by Sony lists all core PlayStation Network features as being online as of this time.
