NEWCASTLE are eyeing a January move for Barcelona striker Sandro Ramirez, according to reports.
The 20-year-old has struggled to break into Barca's first team and is desperate for regular football.
Barca have already turned down a loan move from Real Betis for the striker this month, but he looks set to leave the Nou Camp.
And according to The Sun, Newcastle are interested in signing the Spain Under-21 international after refusing to pay Andros Townsend's £14million fee.
This is not the first time Newcastle have expressed an interest in Ramirez, with the club being linked with a season-long loan move for him back in May.
Ramirez has a £9million release clause in his contract, so he would be a cheaper alternative to Townsend.
However, the Magpies face competition from Spurs to sign the Barca frontman with the club also said to be considering meeting Sandro's release clause after the Daily Mirror claimed talks took place between the two clubs.
But Barca are thought to want to include a buy-back option in any deal for the player, which is believed to have put Spurs off.
Ramirez has started just four La Liga games for Louis Enrique's side this season and is yet to feature for Barca in 2016.
