STEVE BRUCE has confirmed he is trying to sign Manchester United's Nick Powell before the January transfer window closes.
And Tigers boss Bruce has since confirmed his interest, admitting he's been a fan of the England U21 star since his Crewe days.
"Yes, he's somebody who interests us - I've liked Nick from the first time I saw him when he played for Crewe," Bruce said.
"Whether we can get something over the line is debatable, but we're trying."
Powell has found opportunities in the United first team hard to come by this term and has made nine appearances in three-and-a-half years at the club.
According to a 'senior United source' his attitude and commitment to training has dipped recently.
And it's understood he will not be offered a new deal when his current contract expires over the summer.
Instead, the attacking midfielder could be allowed to leave on a free transfer in June.
