Liverpool are confident of pipping Chelsea to the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk striker Alex Teixeira, according to reports.
The Reds already had an opening offer of £25million rejected by the Ukrainian club, who value the frontman at £38m.
But according to Football Insider, Jurgen Klopp's side are readying a second bid of £29m to lure Teixeira to Anfield.
With Anfield officials believed to be confident that a deal will be struck within days as the fee will be enough to persuade Shakhtar to sell their prized asset.

Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with Ligue 1 side Lorient over the transfer of Raphael Guerreiro.
According to Italian outlet Calcionews24 talks have begun over a potential summer move with a January deal looking less likely to materialise.
This is largely due to Lorient wanting to keep hold of the player until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old has played a lot of games in France, appearing in 34 top-flight fixtures in the last two seasons.
Liverpool target Leroy Sane has been warned to stay at Schalke by Germany legend Lothar Matthaus.
The 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a £40million move to the Premier League with the Reds and Manchester City reportedly showing a keen interest.
However, Matthaus has advised Sane to stay put as a move to a top club would hamper his progression.
"I advise the boy to stay at Schalke. He doesn’t have the maturity to play for an absolute top club," he told German magazine Sport Bild.
“If he goes after this season to a team such as Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester City, it would be dangerous for his development.”
