GREAT BRITAIN star Drew Sullivan will return to the scene of one of the greatest BBL Cup Final comebacks on Sunday, hoping for a repeat outcome of a memorable 2014 final.

Two years ago, Leicester Riders were four minutes away from what looked an inevitable defeat against Newcastle Eagles after they had fallen 67-56 behind.
But just as all seemed lost, Sullivan took over the game in crunch time and rattled off a superb 11 points in a row as Leicester came storming back to take a thrilling 72-69 success.
“Newcastle were the better team on the day, but we’re the team that won and that’s one of the beauties of our sport,” mused Sullivan.
“We just figured out how to win it at the end and to be honest, we had a little bit of luck making some shots that perhaps we wouldn’t usually make.
“We were able to keep it close and make that run at the end.”
The same two teams will go head-to-head again in front of a near 10,000 capacity crowd at Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena, with Sullivan expecting a great battle between the two in-form sides.
Sullivan in action for the Riders |
“Newcastle are the best team in the league on current form and we’re the second best on current form, so this is a game that a lot of people want to see,” said the Londoner.
“The fact we haven’t played each other yet this season is so intriguing for everyone, as nobody knows what to expect.”
“Newcastle are going to want to play their way, which is high tempo and putting as many points as possible on the board.
“We have built our game around our defence and keeping teams’ points down in the sixties, so to give ourselves the best possible chance of winning, we’ve got to go out and be playing defence from the start,” concluded Sullivan.
