Liverpool are interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk star Teixeira in January but are yet to meet the Ukrainian club's £38million valuation.

The Reds have had a £24.5m bid rejected after chief executive Ian Ayre flew out to the USA last week for face-to-face talks with Shakhtar.

But it is believed Shakhtar's billionaire owner Rinat Akhmetov will require a huge change of heart to sell his star man before Monday's transfer deadline.

The Times report Liverpool will resume their pursuit of Teixeira in the summer,
along with former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.

Hernandez, 27, has scored 19 goals in 23 games for Bayer Leverkusen since joining from United for £7million.

Liverpool reportedly have a long-term interest in Hernandez and have discussed signing him in January.

However, Leverkusen are unlikely to want to sell their goalscorer mid-season and the Reds could be forced to wait until the end of the season to make their move for the £20m-plus hitman.
Reds boss Klopp is also tracking Empoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski, Schalke defender Joel Matip and Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell ahead of the summer.
