Andros Townsend completes move to Newcastle

The England international arrives at St James' Park on a five-and-a-half year deal after the clubs agreed a reported fee of £7.5million, which could rise to £12m.
The winger managed just three substitute appearances at Spurs this term and was desperate to find first-team football elsewhere to boost his chances of making Roy Hodgson’s squad for Euro 2016.
And the 24-year-old, who had been at White Hart Lane since the age of eight, admits there was no hesitation after hearing of the Magpies interest.

Townsend becomes the third arrival at St James' Park this month and follows Jonjo Shelvey and Henri Saivet from Swansea and Bordeaux, respectively.
He said: “I’m delighted to be here. Newcastle United is a fantastic club with great fans, a great stadium and great tradition.
“As soon as I heard Newcastle were interested in me, there was only one place I wanted to go so I can’t wait to get started.”

While boss Steve McClaren added: “Bringing Andros to the club is a great signing. He is a current England international and should be one for years to come, too.
“Andros is a winger with an old-fashioned style. He can play on the right or the left, is two-footed, quick, very direct and loves taking on defenders and crossing the ball.
“He feels he has a lot to prove and I can’t wait to see him do that in a Newcastle shirt.”
