CHELSEA are favourites to sign Jamie Vardy in January ahead of Manchester City and Liverpool.

Vardy, who turned 29 this month, has 16 Premier League goals to his name already this season.

His rise to fame, having been playing non-league football until as recently as 2011, has seen him break the record for scoring in consecutive games and win his first four England caps.

The former Fleetwood striker's form has made him one of Europe's hottest properties.

And Chelsea have been named 5/1 favourites to make a January swoop for Vardy as they look to drag themselves out of the bottom half of the Premier League table after a disastrous start to their title defence.
Manchester city are next at 6/1 while Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool are at 10/1.
With Daniel Sturridge struggling with injury and Christian Benteke struggling for form, Vardy's goalscoring back would be a welcome arrival at Anfield.

Title contenders Arsenal are out at 20/1 so if Vardy does make a move to London it is likely to be to the west not the north of the city.
“Punters are piling in on Vardy making a last-minute move to Chelsea," a spokesman for Ladbrokes said.
"The odds of the striker heading south during this window are shortening by the minute."
