Chelsea plan swoop for Atletico Madrid ace with defender set to leave
Jose Gimenez has been linked with a move to Chelsea

Gimenez was a target for the Blues last summer and was actually wanted ahead of Everton's John Stones.
The Stamford Bridge club ended up having four bids for England international Stones rejected and ended up with Papy Djilobodji instead.

But according to the London Evening Standard they are now back in for Gimenez.
The Uruguayan international has played a key role in Atletico's rise to second in the La Liga table this season alongside Diego Godin at centre-back.
The 21-year-old only signed a new contract with the Spanish club earlier this month which keeps him at the Vicente Calderon until at least 2018.

Chelsea plan swoop for Atletico Madrid ace with defender set to leave
Gary Cahill has made just 12 Premier League appearances for Chelsea this term

But that hasn't put Chelsea off as they believe he will become one of the world’s top centre-backs in the coming years.
The arrival of another defender at Stamford Bridge will likely push Gary Cahill closer to an exit.
Cahill is concerned about his England prospects, having not played in the Premier League since Boxing Day.
And the 30 year-old is considering leaving Chelsea as he looks for more game time ahead of Euro 2016.
